One of the things that greatly annoyed me about The Authority and, later, Midnighter's solo run was that Apollo was constantly abused, beaten up and defeated and Midnighter had to save his ass. If Midnighter was the one who got in trouble, he was also the one who'd hauled his own ass out of there.

BUT! There came a time when even the Night Bringer of War, Death, Pestilance and Twillight marathons on TV had to have someone save him. That someone was... The Magnificent Kev! )

And finally for Dudes in Distress Week... honest! Then I'll be quiet!

As noted earlier, this is a repost of a post originally made in 2009 in our IJ days, but I thought that in honours of Dude in Distress week a fresh posting might be made as an exception.

So what did I pick? Go on... guess!

What else could it be, but New Teen Titans #22 )

As promised, this is the second mega-posting to celebrate the end of "Dude(s) in Distress Week", dealing with published images... (This is sort of a "Greatest Hits", as much of it has been posted before)

The history of the "Dude in Distress" in graphical literature is a long and noble one... there are probably medieval woodcuts showing that sort of thing, but as that slightly predates most of the usual area of scans_daily, we'll skip to something vaguely more recent... well, relatively speaking.

LOTS of scans under the cut, but I've used smallish thumbnails so as not to kill your broadband completely! Just stun it slightly...

As the sun sets (or rises depending on time difference) on scans_daily's "Dude in Distress Week" (and thank you to the mods for it and to everyone who contributed such great issues), I thought I'd make a couple of posts featuring my favourites... First post will be some commissions, the second post will be some classic moments from the past, and the third will be my nomination for perfect "Dude in Distress" issue. And yes, I should probably apologise in advance for the sheer Robin-centricity of them, but frankly you should know me better by now! :D If cute guys in pixie boots aren't you're thing, please feel free to skip them all.

Like comics... but not! )

I know I maybe late for the week, but my scanner is not working and Dad broke the computer that works the other scanner, and that this guy's distress is about one or two pages long, BUT, considering his situation, it more than worth it. Here is something from Golden Age Batman!

A REAL reason why not to start a life of crime... )

Ah Thunderbirds... a staple of children's viewing for many decades here in the UK.

Gerry Anderson (still going strong at 82, gawdbless him) never saw the fact he used marionettes in his work as being a disadvantage.

Okay they're a little wooden, but they are cute guys in uniform! )

And how could I overlook the definitive UK Dude in Distress )

Given the story focus in the end of this arc was pretty much not on Superman, at least directly, I'm not sure if this really counts as a Dude in Distress post... But hey, Ninja Fighting!

7 1/3 pages from a 22 page story. Man, cutting this one was hard. REALLY. HARD. I loved this story so much.

This wasn't intended to be a Dudes in Distress post, but I realized at the last moment that it probably counts, doesn't it?

Here's my feeble attempt Dudes in Distress Week. I actually wracked my brains trying to think of a good story to post and having wanted to post this story for a while it stood out to me.

What happens when Superman falls into a near death state? Who can save the day? Part 1 of 3.

7 pages from a 22 page story.

Co-starring a female who would make Jaime Reyes say "Hot Damn!"

For Dude in Distress week, I thought I'd post a few pages of when the Red Skull has Captain America at his mercy... and decides to bore him with his origin story.

Oh, right, like I was going to let this one pass. Assuming that Sam meets the technical specifications of "dude" and not "freakish animal/human hybrid"[1], let's look at him in distress, shall we?

Yes, we shall? )

Of course, one of the only other worse things that can happen to a superhero besides being captured by the bad guy, is when said bad guy happens to be your own nephew trying to get a hold of the family fortune!

Throw in some chains, some electrical shocks, some family drama and you've got... )

In honour of DiD week, I present to you the comic strip in Issue 272 of Doctor Who Magazine which, in 1998, was published around the thirty-fifth anniversary of the show, and well before it looked like anyone was going to be bringing it back. And it involves eight incarnations of the Doctor tied to... well, you'll see.

Just over 2.5 scans from an eight-page story, which unless my maths fails me, I think is okay for the page limit requirements (mods, please don't hesitate to correct me otherwise). I've also tried to trim down what were some fairly large file sizes into something a bit more manageable, but apologies in advance to any dial-up users.

You're not wrong there, Eighth Doctor... )
