1 page + 1 panel from JLI Annual 1.

The setup: Booster Gold has lured the remaining JLI'ers and a couple prospective new members to the Hall of Justice by claiming the members of the main League will be there. Blue Beetle comes, but isn't interested in Booster's plans for the JLI; he's looking to meet Superman, Wonder Woman or at least Cyborg, for help in removing the scarab from his spine.

Booster promises him OMAC's help instead.

Yeah. How's that working out, Jaime? )

Well, crud.

Which is my own way to both parody and serve as a tribute to my favorite iteration of the Justice League, ever!Oreos, romantic dates and more after the jump! )

This week's RETRO-ACTIVE: JUSTICE LEAGUE is the 90s issue. Keith Giffen, J.M. DeMatteis, and Kevin Maguire all reunite for one last tale of Justice League International. And it really will be their very last one; Giffen and DeMatteis have mentioned in interview that even if they're offered a chance to do another in the future, they'll turn it down. They feel that they've said all they want to say with these characters.

One last time )

On a completely unrelated note, I'm vacationing in China these days, where apparently you can't access imageshack pictures or their website. Can anyone recommend some way to get around this that an idiot layman like myself would be able to implement?

For the entirety of the crossover the Parasites attacks were very US based (as the aliens ship crashed near Metropolis), the only attacks that occurred outside of the US was this annual in which some of the Parasites come to England. (Though the latest New Blood related story seems to imply despite what we see of the Parasites attack patterns they likely did go global but that's a post for another day)

18 pages from a 54 page story.

The Blood comes to England and Lionheart will defend his country! )

I love love love pre-megalomadman, Superbuddies-era Max Lord and Sue Dibny together. Let me show you why!

I'd expect this sort of thing from your husband, but not from you! )

So there you have it, my never-gonna-happen fantasy OTP. Then DC hadda go ruin everything by making Max all Evil!Psycho!Villain!, and we won't even discuss what they did to Sue *shudder* But ah well, we'll always have Superbuddies!

A(n admittedly extended) moment taken from Justice League International #22 by Keith Giffen, J.M. DeMatteis and Kevin Maguire. In which Oberon is left to defend the Justice League Embassy single handedly against an attack from a vicious squadron of Khund mini-fighters. Gadzooks!

A lot happened in this issue; Max confronts the computer that helped him create the Justice League as part of its plan to take over the world, nearly gets himself killed in the process, and finds hints that he might have some kind of metahuman power. But the main thrust of the story is the big reunion/party/recruitment bash Oberon throws to get more candidates for the JLE. Old heroes come face-to-face with the new guard, with sometimes less-than-pleasant results; and of course, there's a few unexpected guests. So sit back, relax, and enjoy some classic DC, hopelessly irreverent but still steeped in history and characterization.

Who do you think you're calling a foul-mouthed, immature misfit? )

Oop! Well that explains where I got the cover from. I tried checking back in the archives, but couldn't find the post (I'm slow or don't read enough?). To make up for the fail, have some Fire and Ice.
