Hi folks!

After fifteen years and 700 chapters, Naruto finally ended. Like the Harry Potter series, the actual plotline ended a chapter earlier, but you can read the collected volumes for that. Naturally, if you've skipped the last couple of years of the manga on the grounds that you'd catch up when the dang thing finally ended, this post will have heavy SPOILERS for things that happened in the last arc.

Seven pages of twenty-three.

War is over, if you want it. War is over now. )

So, what's going to replace Naruto in Shounen Jump? The series that seems to be poised to be the next "cool-looking battles" hit manga is Boku no Hero Academia, which is about kids at a superhero school. Think of a cross between House of M and Avengers Academy, but played for optimism.

The series literally taking Naruto's space in the magazine is Takujo no Ageha, which is about table tennis. I'll be posting that sometime next week.

In case you hadn't already heard, as of Monday, the online US release of Shonen Jump is going simultaneous with the print edition in Japan. So they're changing the name of the online edition from Shonen Jump Alpha to Shonen Jump Weekly (a direct translation of the Japanese version.)

So I thought now was a good time to show you four semi-random pages from the latest issue and get everyone caught up on what's been happening.

The final issue of Shonen Jump USA, April 2012, is now out. Thus the last monthly manga magazine in America passes away.

It's being replaced by Shonen Jump Alpha, a weekly online release at http://www.viz.com . Only available in North America at this time, alas.

As is appropriate for a final issue, it's a bit oversized.

Staying in the line-up for the new iteration are Bleach, One Piece and Naruto. Bleach looks like it's finally wrapping up though, so may need to be replaced within the year.

Dropped are Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's (mercifully) and Psyren (which apparently had a sudden drop in popularity and has already ended in Japan.)

Replacing them are Bakuman, Toriko and Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan.

I'm saddened by not being able to get a manga magazine fix monthly any more, but let's face it, we all knew this day was coming.

A day or so later for the manga meme, but close enough :)

Manga and US comics are the same media, but come from very different traditions. Even with the large differences caused by this, though, they do share some common ground.

Like, for instance, they're both awesome ^^

While most of those interested has probably already read/heard of it, I'm going to post it anyway.

Obviously spoilerish.
