So here we are, the big finish to Peter Parker's tenure on 'Ultimate Spider-Man' (but not my last post in the series, there's one more). For this arc Bendis was reunited with original artist Mark Bagley. This was a pretty big event for Marvel right down to the ominous previews (which were just 'Death of Spider-Man' leading people to wonder if 616's days were numbered) to the multiple variant covers to the last issue being in a polybag. (I always found the last bit to be kind of funny; they said it was to prevent spoilers but then they went to the press with the ending a day before its release.)

A running gag throughout Ultimate Spider-Man was whenever there was a scene taking place in a police station there was always someone dressed up as Marvel character being lead away while referencing something that was taking place during the 616 universe...

I hate to drag on him too much but, as I've stated a couple of times, I think Miles is at this point a fairly boring character. He was introduced in 2011 and he doesn't even have a proper rogues' gallery at this point. His father has a more developed personality and motivations than he does.

I do think the one big exception to this was the 'Ultimate Prowler' arc. To this day it's the high point of the series for me. Looking at again it works because this is one of the few times where Miles is dealing with something that isn't the equivalent to Peter Parker's scraps; it involves him on a very personal level. I think if Bendis has used this approach for the rest of the series it would be a much better scenario.
