The X-Men split up after Sasquatch of Alpha Flight brings down their plane in a conveniently empty corner of the airport.

Coming back from Japan, but Alpha Flight whips up a massive (and we mean massive) snowstorm to lure the X-Men to an airport where they can capture Wolverine.

This does result in a massive out of control snowstorm, but hey.

Y'know, I always wondered what would happen if Storm encountered someone/something else that could control the weather, and now I know.

She scrapped with Thor a little bit in Immortal Thor, where I think the takeaway was that he *might* be able to out-thunder her but doesn't have nearly her range. Then they teamed up to fight Utgard-Thor.
