I guess it depends on where people are positionning themselves. From a very left POW, I guess the answer may be no, but the fact is there has been several socialist governments over the time. Yes, they were not perfect, they betrayed some promises, but they still had mostly left politics.
The last socialist government "on the paper", was when François Hollande was president, from 2012 to 2017. But my personnal bias makes it hard for me to acknowledge that as left wing. They were more center-liberal IMO, and they gave the keys of the country to Macron, who is a right wing liberal.
Overall the french society is leaning more and more toward the right. The center is now more right-leaning, the socialists are more a center or center-left party, the communists are more like socialists. The electors are voting more and more to the right too. The left, especially, has lost a huge part of the working class votes to the far right.
