Mary Jane's character has been so adjusted over the years--and revised backward, too, in flashback stories set in her teenage years--that it's a real kick in the head to look at these older stories and see what she was really like before coping with Gwen's death changed her.

This notion of Peter's that an adrenaline junkie might make a good superhero girlfriend wouldn't survive a lot of scrutiny ("Aw, bummer! I got TOO close to that swingin' Rhino's swings and now I'm totally DEAD, dad!"), but it is a really interesting twist on his usual relationship issues, so I wish it had lasted a little longer.
