Thanos has wiped out half of all life in the universe, but poor Drax doesn’t quite get it.

Firelord manages to track the Silver Surfer to Earth.

Drax stops his rampage when he realises it endangers the kid he befriended.

I don't remember how exactly, but Drax did manage to kill Thanos early on in the Thanos Imperative. Of course, since Death had made him its avatar that was a very temporary state of affairs.

Drax killed Thanos during Annihilation, I think.

Both times Drax killed Thanos, it was after his evolution from Starlin Moron Hulk into his Kratos version.

In Annihilation, it was stated and then shown, that Drax was specifically designed to be capable of killing Thanos. Sadly, I think later writers have forgotten or ignored that, and if Starlin wrote Thanos afterwards, I'm sure he buried that.
