Batman: Dark Patterns #5 is in a gangster's body.
The body's Bledin Towers, a Gotham City apartment building - the gangster's the Ventriloquist's Scarface.
Batman'd entered the Towers in issue #4 to resolve a hostage situation - he found Scarface the hand behind it.
Many of the Towers' inhabitants were Scarface's minions - surrounded by them, the Bat fled, Scarface echoing.
" You've invaded me like a cancer cell. "

The girl's mother took him in stride.

Batman extrapolated from that formal encapsulation of the Towers' acoustic properties.

" The people who live in this tower are already under extreme stress. "

Batman went out the window and up the Towers' side, telling Jim Gordon below his plan.

His climb was interrupted -

- so he went in through another window.
He took the stairs, handling Scarface's gang on the way up.

" - thunk guud. "

Scarface's lieutenant - the married man with the dummy from #4, in whose apartment the Gotham police hostage of the situation was being kept - rushed back.

" Just as we discussed. "

" Talk to me, Wesker. Who's the voice out there? "
(Scarface as " something someone else can pick up " was previously done with Peyton Riley, the second Ventriloquist.)

" Yes. "

" Well, that won't do, will it? "

(Pagecount's 7 and under 1/3rd of 22 from April 2025's Batman: Dark Patterns #5.
May 2025's issue #6, which wrapped up this arc of the maxi-series, included a bit justifying cutting out the Ventriloquist's tongue in an " early years Batman " story.
Writing's Dan Watters, art's Hayden Sherman, colors're Triona Farrell, and letters're Frank Cvetkovic.
Publisher's DC.)
