The Mighty Marvel Superhero's Cookbook!

Winter (or Summer, for you Australians and nearby) holidays are, I think everyone can agree, are a time for food. Delicious food.

And so, my gift to you is this: Food, and cooking, the Marvel way. Have you ever wondered what type of cake Hulk likes best? Thor's feelings about cabbage or what sort of finger food might be available in you were asked over to T'Challa's place? Do you pine to know the best way to cook a meatball if Captain America's in town? Or Tony's second favourite type of engineering?

Now first, of course, let's make sure we'll be adhering to proper kitchen etiquette. We are heroines and heroes, after all, not common minions or grunts.

Got that? Good.

Now. Recipes!

The recipes in this book range from, well, recipes to basic "no shit" instructions. It's a book aimed at kids I guess, but some of them are.. well. I guess Super types are very busy, and have no time for fresh 'erbs.

I love this page. Just look at it:

I'm gonna be trying these next two this week, I think.

One of you has to be in the mood for cake. PLEASE bake, photo, and report? On noscans, maybe?

I just love how SIMPLE Iron Man's is.

Here is a lesson for us all:

Finally, I think Marvel might think before casting copyright stones, no?

This is one of my favourite books. It has 93 pages, so if you want to see more, please ask! And many thanks to my beloved, for giving me such a gift!

I used to have this! I even made the chicken stew from it. I learned to cook because I picked this up.

lol! That is fantastic!

Are there any cake recipes that aren't "Take a cake mix and maybe add a little something to make it more interesting"?

Black Panther likes tiny sandwiches with the crusts cut off. Huh. I wouldn't have called that. But I guess he is royalty, after all.

Not sure what's so mysterious about Dr. Strange's stew, tho.

*shudder* Margarine . . . also, for those parfaits, are we talking straight-up liquid light cream, swimming around with Jello? Because that sounds, uh, not so delicious to me . . .

I really want to use "Thor-riffic" in a sentence somewhere, except that'd be dorky even for me. *grin*
I might try the peach cake over christmas break, actually- though with actual butter instead of margarine. Ew.

Any art credits on the book? The intro page is recycled art, mostly John Buscema Avengers pages. Not sure about the rest...maybe Don Perlin? That looks like his rendition of Dr. Strange, anyway.

I bet Doctor Strange really does use his magic to help him make dinner. Like he's just sitting in his armchair watching TV and he's hungry, but he doesn't feel like sliding out of the chair, so he just waves his arms around theatrically and the stuff in the kitchen just arranges itself on a plate and floats out to him.

If I had them, I'd totally use my magic powers to make dinner or other menial tasks. It'd be awesome.

I'm not sure it's possible for me to love anything more than I love this. It's just...magical.
