now i loved the art

however i hated.... hated the story.

No way in HELL Would Nori have talked the shit she talked about Jubilee to her. ESPECIALLY after David. Never would she call a veteran xman like Jubilee a looser. And if i was Jubilee i would have KICKED her ass, you know she could

p.s. LOVE Your Anole ICON, i need to put mine up:)

I liked his work on the Fairy Tales miniseries, but I also have to agree on the assessment of this story.

I really, really want to love Cebulski's X-kids stories because unlike a lot of people in the X-Office, he actually care about them, want to write them and know their history.
But his stories always end up to be desappointments. I understand what he is doing with Nori (she is treating Jubes the same way she treated David), but she should be over it now. She should know for now that nobody is safe (her and Julian were almost killed by the Leper Queen) and that depowered people like David or Dani are able to hold their own as well as her.

See? It's quite possible to draw Anole as freaky-looking, but not fugly.

Thirding the "Ugh, really?" for the story.

Ha! Well, there is that. Not that I intend to complain about the art, and the story I was looking forward to rocked my socks anyway. Everything else was icing.

Longer story... Nori said that Jubilee had a) no buisness being on the Island of Misfit Mutants since she no longer has powers, and b)Has no business TEACHING at said Island because she has no powers... never mind that her bestfriend/ex-boyrfriend David Allen is instrumental at not only TEACHING but also maintaining the island....

never mind that Jubilee has logged more field time than the New X-men combined.... (and i LOVED the New X-Men, Anole and Pixie are my favorites, and loved Josh, Josh, and Julian) really had NO business opening her mouth

So do they explain what happened to Jubes after New Warriors?

I don't mind Surge being a bitch really. She was a harsh bitch during the New Mutants vol. 2/Academy X days.

And after all of her failures as leader of the New X-men, I can understand how she'd be envious of Jubilee and other depowered mutants for no longer having the responsibility of having powers.

And now here Jubilee is. She's not taking advantage of being depowered and living a normal life without bus explosions, she wants to come rejoin the mutants on their sinking island.

...I may have read it wrong but I thought the whole point of the story was that Jubilee WAS living a normal without bus explosions and not wanting to rejoin the mutants on their sinking island?

True, but Surge may not understand that.

From her perspective Jubes has followed them all to San Francisco, and the other kids are inviting her back to their island, where no doubt she'll get pulled back into mutant politics. And that pisses Noriko off, since she wishes she were in Jubilee's position and no longer obligated to the X-men

I picked this up because I got a kick out of Nation-X 1 but this story rang wrong on so many levels. I hate it whenever I see an X-Man being a racist prick to normal humans, they should know better, and doing it to a depowered mutant makes it even worse.

Especially since Surge was upset when Frosties fired depowered Dani, or when Hellion was a dick with depowered Prodigy.
But I guess she's a bitch with Jubes for the same reason she was a bitch with Prodigy: she thinks she can't defend herself without powers and want her away from X-Men foes. Which is stupid, since the Purificaters killed a bunch of depowered mutans. Plus, Jubilee will always be targeted by Wolverine foes, whether she has powers or not.

They should know better, but the X-Men's set-up always made their claim that their ultimate goal was human-mutant coexistence seem pretty iffy. Now that they've declared that ideal dead and gone to outright isolationism, it really didn't surprise me that some of the islanders -- especially the kids, who've been pretty badly served by both the X-Men and their families -- weren't even paying the idea lip-service. Didn't mean that I didn't want someone to put Hellion through a wall for calling Kyle "Northstar's 'normal'", but I didn't really think it was out of place.

Yeah and that annoys me. Here's the thing I know a lot of kids have problems with their parents and the X-Men, and the Xavier Academy are an escapist fantasy not only for those that feel separate but also those that would love to get away from opressive parents... but I had a good relationship with my parents... and the complete lack of 'human' parents that loved and supported their mutant children bothered me.

I mean there were a handful but they always were just fluff backstory. None made an effort to move to Manchester, New York to keep their families together while their child attended the institiute. No teacher parents with a mutant kid tried to become teachers at the school (I mean do you really need one of the x-men to teach College Algebra?).

The school has always been segregated, isolationist, and militant... it always bothered me, and now things like this and the Northstar story are not just bugging me but moving into the straight up dislike (I wont say hate... at this point I don't care enough about the X-books to hate).

Magneto was right in Nation X #1, he won, the dream of peaceful mutant/human co-existance is dead. The X-Men are just as much to blame given their policies and attitude.

Still I have some hope, I mean most of the New X-Men were happy to see Jubilee, Northstar wants so badly to make his relationship work. Maybe things will get better... maybe.

Victor had loving, supportive parents, but going to Xavier's and its headmaster's disregard for the actual welfare of the kids when they're not strapped into body armor seems to have pretty much cost him the ability to relate to a "normal" life, unfortunately.

Yeah, it seems like Northstar's the only character with any positive connections out in the world beyond the mutant ghetto, and I was happy to see that he's going to be holding on to that, no matter how much of a dick Cyclops decides to be about the matter.

Some of the previews show her hand glowing in a familiar way. I'm wondering if she is going to be one of the first successful repowered mutants due to the XClub. I mean they are some of the smartest minds in the world working together.
