Seven Soldiers was an EXCELLENT series. I loved that they were never actually a team, but that they all had parts to play in story and all "Technically" teamed up at the end.

Also like that parts of it Carried over into DC proper, wish more of it had though as well.

And that was how Zatanna Zatara's television career ended, when the rabbits started doing what rabbits do. Like rabbits. It was all the channel execs could do to keep the company afloat under the lawsuit barrage.

As cute as this is, I'm wondering if it might be possible for some writer, somewhere, to write the adventures of a solo starring superheroine without devoting the central focus of the character's stories to hammering home how low her self-esteem is?

Every time I see that shit, no matter how earnestly well-intentioned it might well be, it feels like I'm watching a male comic book writer say to himself, "Okay, so how do I write a woman in a way that's 'realistic'? OH, I KNOW! LIKE A LIFETIME CHARACTER!"

Cutting down on the daddy issues would be nice too.

Come on, man. Come on. Her dad died by redirecting the magical energies that were about to cause her to spontaneously combust into himself. If anyone should end up with daddy issues... I mean non-incest ones...

Haha. I agree with you entirely, but in fairness to Morrison, he wrote this on the heels of IdC. Zee being in a good place would have been a bit OOC and continuity-abusing.

In even more fairness to Morrison, however, those things never stop him from doing anything else, as Fat Black-Haired Etta here clearly demonstrates, so that's not really a defense where he's concerned.

Morrison is really weird when it comes to Other People's Continuity.

During his JLA run, he chose to keep (of all the fucking things) Electro-Supes in that look for at least as long as was the case in the Superman titles, and yet, he utilized Superman's electric powers BRILLIANTLY.

And then, during the same run, he writes the JSA members with powers and personalities that they've NEVER had. It's like he's continuity bi-polar.

I wish they'd use Zatannas sidekick again. Misty was her name I think?

Isn't that Paul Dini's wife?

Morrison named her Misty after Misty Lee, who's Paul Dini's wife, a real-life stage magician, and a dead ringer for Zee.

Dude Misty's is Dini's wife. I also heard that he has a crush on Zatanna.

my only guess is she's seeing him through rose colored glassed. I mean right here he comes off as a dick. Considering the fact he used magic to solve the problem he could have easily done it in a way that didn't leave his daughter feeling horrible. THe stupid thing's name is oops spelled backwards. That suggests it's troublesome.

Although looking at it again the audience does not seem impressed that Zatara actually made the rabbit disappear and then inserts his arm to his shoulder into the hat without damaging it. So they do seem to be asses also.

Also it resulted in Zatanna finding out what 'go at it like rabbits' truly mean.

She would later go on to transform an entire audience of people into bats... and sic' em on the Joker.

I guess magical responsibilities have a flexible definition.

I don't know if this is intentional, but notice how competitive Zatanna is. Her self esteem can't just be low, it has to be the lowest. "You want guilt?" She is a performer and will give you the best guilt you've ever seen!
