One I've been waiting for!
Feb. 16th, 2010 09:38 pmSo, I was mostly looking for an excuse to post the DC solicits for May when I stumbled across the best news!

I, ZOMBIE #1
On sale MAY 5
32 pg, FC, $1 US
MATURE READERS
Written by CHRIS ROBERSON •Art and cover by MICHAEL ALLRED
1:10 Variant cover by DARWYN COOKE
Gwen Dylan is a gravedigger in an eco-friendly cemetery…and a zombie detective. Once a month, she has to eat a human brain – both to keep from going all “Night of the Living Dead,” and to keep her own memories intact. As a result, Gwen’s mind is crowded with the dead person’s thoughts. And lately, she feels compelled to fulfill their final requests. Torn between a mysterious mummy and a dashing young monster-hunter, Gwen is set for adventures beyond imagination! A were-terrier, a swinging ’60s ghost and a pack of paintball blasting vampires complete the cast of I, ZOMBIE.
Written by World Fantasy Award finalist Chris Roberson (CINDERELLA: FROM FABLETOWN WITH LOVE) with art by Eisner Award-winning superstar artist Michael Allred (X-Statix, Madman), I, ZOMBIE is a monster of a tale with razor-sharp prose and powerful pop artistry.
Don’t miss this special debut issue launching Vertigo’s next monster hit, priced at just $1.00!

Date: 2010-02-17 03:42 am (UTC)Is this the good news? I don't really see anything else that would qualify it as "best" . . .

Date: 2010-02-17 03:43 am (UTC)But on the other hand: This seems to rock. I will definitely make an effort to maybe check it out.
BTW, I don't know for artists, but I prefer the one on the right.

Date: 2010-02-17 03:49 am (UTC)Hell we actually had a sympathetic zombie a long while back in the original Day of the Dead.

Date: 2010-02-17 04:42 am (UTC)Left 4 dead 2 (which I rented recently) is one of the best games I've played for the 360 (then again Valve always does outstanding work; I recently started playing Half Life 2 and I'm up to Ravenholme. IMHO that is the kind of game Resident Evil was trying to be; Valve GETS zombie apocalypses. And FPS's).

Date: 2010-02-17 05:09 am (UTC)The original Silent Hill was the same thing. All that creepy ambient noise.

Date: 2010-02-17 05:45 am (UTC)Course, the hunter crab heads are pretty horrific, the way they jump around and shit, and the poisonous crabs are a pain in the ass.
Of course, I also run out of ammo pretty quickly, so I usually just end up bashing the fuck out of the zombies with my trusty crowbar (Because I am Gordon Got damn Freeman bitch!)

Date: 2010-02-17 02:07 pm (UTC)I have terrible aim with firearms and I tend to waste ammo like water, so most of the time I go "Fuck it" and just rush the armed soldiers and zombies with my crowbar.
Its pretty fucking metal, if I do say so myself.
