While rifling through the $.50 bin of my LCS I stumbled across Excalibur #40 "The Trial of Lockheed." Now I know very little about Excalibur but I love Lockheed so I picked it up without really reading it. It wasn't until later that I realized what a delightful piece of crack I had picked up. By the request of several people from my previous Lockheed post I am posting a few scans here. About 4 1/3 pages.

The premise: Lockheed is injured from something that happened in a Previous Issue. He's in surgery.

Lockheed sort of astral projects into a nearby Flock (his species) ship. I'm actually confused if they are all astral projections or if they are actually there. I was too distracted by the fact that apparently Flockese (called Dragonspeak in 1991).

Basically Lockheed has to defend himself for leaving the Flock. With art. In rhyme. He says that the reason for his leaving lies with Excalibur. He goes over each teammate. I've included Kitty (because Kitty and Lockheed are my Marvel OTP) and Kurt.

He goes over Meggan, Captain Britain, and Rachel Summers. Everyone apparently falls asleep during this recounting, and Lockheed saves them by waking up the pilots. Like I said, fuzzy on the details due to the PURPLE DRAGONS SPEAKING IN RHYME.

Eventually Lockheed makes his closer argument:

He's voted unanimously guilty, but his death sentence is commuted. He floats back to his body on the table and his fate is left unknown...(spoiler: he totally is fine).

Anyone else have any good Lockheed stories to post?

I will make my point brief, without undue expansion
Just to rhyme's not enough; there's this new thing called scansion.
They've not taught it in schools, though I feel that they could've
But if you didn't catch it, your editor should've.

(Anapestic tetrameter with a feminine ending, because I'm a pedantic old bastard.)
