It's been done again and again, but I never get tired of the falling motif as a metaphor for Dick!angst. Bruce died and left him alone with a mantle he didn't want, Babs hasn't pulled him back the way she might have when they were closer, and the ugly specter of Jason, (ie, the ultimate rival for Bruce's affection), has been there every step of the way, reminding him of all his inadequacies. They all represent failures, missed opportunities, people he's depended on in the past who are letting him down now, in one way or another.

And tiny!Dickie is tiny. Omg.
