Continuing the Locke & Key series, let's take a break from ghosts and magic keys and focus on some of the characters. The series starts off with the murder of the family patriarch, Rendell Locke. This is obviously a traumatic event for the rest of the family. Here we take a look of how this has affected Kinsey, the middle daughter.

Ok, I'm a day or two late on this one, but this is a fun one, from Ninja High School

(Yes, Suzume's on a panda. No, I'm not going to tell you why ^^)

Post your favorite fanart!
Post fanart, recs and links to your favorite artists, or just whatever you really like! The only requirement is you have to be able to credit the artist, and provide a link if available. If you can't source it, please don't post it. Everything else is free game, fans!
And make sure to keep NSFW art behind a link with a warning.
And of course, your own fanart is welcome, too!

But Fan-thing Thursday isn't just about fanart, post links to your fanfic or fanvids, or rec your favorites! It's all about fan-thing fun. Though a reminder that Dreamwidth doesn't support embedded videos, so you'll have to just post a link.

And don't forget, we have the Fan-Thing Prompt Thing running throughout December, so post prompts, fill prompts, and let's have the best fan-times we can! Feel free to post any filled prompts here or at our sister comm!

Hello, scan-kateers. (Dailyites? Scandies? What is the appropriate portmanteau-ized noun? Has there been a vote? Somebody needs to get on that.) It's been a very long while since I posted anything to s_d, mostly because I got banned from Livejournal long before s_d did. But I have something for you all today!

See, since I went off and did my own blog where I can write all the poems about unicorns that I like, I've had the opportunity to start working with artists who are phenomenally talented and who frankly will probably soon get hired away from me to work at a Real Comics Company where they pay you in money rather than compliments. This in turn meant that I am now able to create actual comics which people can read and everything.

The first of these projects to reach something resembling fruition is Al'Rashad: City of Myths, which is set in a fantasy world, of sorts, and that's all you get to know for now about the story. The reason you should read this comic, other than that I wrote it and therefore it is a timeless classic, is that Davinder Brar, my collaborator and artist, is basically right now where someone like Jamie McKelvie was five or six years ago: ridiculously talented and working under the radar until such time as Marvel or DC come along and make him King Shit of Fuck Mountain. (If Jamie McKelvie doesn't have that in his job title he should.)

And how ridiculously talented is he?

There were a few things about this that just didn't sit right with me. However, I'm incredibly happy with the art in this: far less T&A Benes style in a book featuring four women and uh, that Hawk guy.

In 2008 John Rogers resigned from writing duties on BLUE BEETLE when his TV work became too time-consuming. Nowadays, however, he has more free time, and he's writing a monthly comic once again. IDW signed him up to be the ongoing writer of their new DRAGONS & DRAGONS series.

Welcome one and all to day sixteen of [community profile] scans_daily's 30 Days of Winter celebration, today's topic is Science Heroes!
Superhero comics, having their origins in science fiction, delve into this this archetype often. Some heroes primarily, or at least frequently, use their own scientific capabilities in their adventures, while there may be others still who utilize a science they may not fully understand.

An example of what can happen when you mix science and superheroes under the cut! )

So, who're your favorite science heroes?
And stay tuned tomorrow, when we'll be discussing Pre-Golden Age Comics!
You can see our full 30 Days of Winter schedule here. Make sure you don't miss a day!

I guess I'll be the first to say that my favorite Science super hero (after the Blue Beetle) is Reed Richards.

Gasp! But why?? you ask...well, I have my reasons.

People have already posted about Reed's explanation over his name and his One Perfect Moment. I suggest going back and reading those posts too for more insight on Reed. ♥

This is apparently just Birds of Prey week all around, guys. Check out what Dixon posted to his blog yesterday: inked pages from an unpublished BoP story where Babs dreams about fighting Nazis while her girlfriend macks on her boyfriend.

Over in Iron Man Legacy, he's been displaying his characteristic talent for building things out of seeming nothings, be they companies out of run-down factories or innovations out of the stuff of junkyards.

And since this is Tony, he's also had to build weaponry out of that junkyard, to fend off the Serpent Society's mercenary attack in last month's #8.

(There's some of this week's #9 after that, if you're on the lookout for spoilers.. oh, and if you didn't know, this takes place while Tony's down with Circuits Maximus.)

Whose capabilities he announces, as he always does, with a great big BOOM! )
