Hold on, let me get my gallon of Jaegermeister...

Okay, there's no clear divergence point to this one, and there are multiple differences that you'll see over the next few days as I post these. Judging by solicits, it was meant to be "What if Hope Summers fell under Magneto's influence", but... well, let's just say I have my own ideas.

What if... AvX was even worse? )

In the comments to these weekly posts (and only these posts), it's your chance to go as off topic as you like. Talk about non-comics stuff, thread derail, and just generally chat amongst yourselves.

Trump... I'd try to keep up with whatever the latest mess turns out to be but I can't type that fast. (Though I will note that the Speaker of the House of Commons in the UK has in a controversial step (since he's supposed to remains impartial) stated that he will not permit Trump to address the Commons on a State Visit) due to his racism and sexism.

The LEGO Batman Movie is probably more ON topic that off, but having been to see it, I thought I'd mention that it's a whole lot of fun, with a near-exhausting stream of non-stop gags. Batman being a complete ass should get tiresome, but it makes it work, especially with Michael Cera's complete optimistic Robin to balance it.

Whilst the majority of Bat-villains who show up are more or less background noise (which is a shame for Billy Dee Williams chance at finally playing Two-Face) the more unexpected villains who show up are a hoot and a half. Also has some of the best scenes of Dick Grayson's impact on Bruce Wayne's life (also some of the outright silliest, but I'm fine with that).

"It's first and foremost a human story, with psychological and spiritual dimensions. The story of a flawed man whose very belief system is challenged, shattered. Seeing where that shattering leads Savior 28 is the crux of the story. And as much as the book is something of an anti-super hero diatribe, it's also a loving tribute to the genre. I couldn't have written as many super hero stories as I have without genuinely loving the genre and, even in a story that attempts to expose some of the ugliness and stupidity that underlies the super hero concept, that love, I think, manages to shine through."

It's not one out of tune with the rest of Dynamite's work featuring King Features characters.

It's one that's a little more apparent, because of the exaggeration of Jesse Hamm's art.

The lightness of Jeff Parker's writing is also a bit more so than previous efforts.

Some of those were his. )

For those who don't know, Berni Wrightson once did illustrations for the novel Frankenstein and it's widely considered to be his definitive work. In my opinion its the best visual depiction of the monster.

In 2012 he started what was going to be a 13-issue miniseries with Steve Niles that served as a 'sequel' to the original novel. The second issue was delayed by a few months and the third issue by two years. As of 2017 the series remains unfinished. Given that Wrightson is sadly no longer able to draw I imagine that it will never be completed (I suppose they can find another artist but Wrightson was clearly the main selling point.)

So without further ado here is a glimpse at what might have been with the first issue.
