A vampire asks a human if she has the dress she is holding in blood red.

Eerie Cuties was a slice-of-life webcomic focusing on vampire sisters Layla and Nina Delacroix as they attended a secret school for monsters like themselves, making new friends along the way while dealing with whatever new wacky scenario life throws at them (think Archie meets Monster High). That might not necessarily be the best webcomic out there, but that's one that holds a special place in my heart for introducing me to the works of Gisèle Lagacé and being a light in a dark point of my life. With permission from Ms. Lagacé, 7 pages below the cut. Mild warning for partial nudity.

This is pure fairy-tale, folklore myth structure. It’s also joke structure, in the rule of three way. First statement shows a situation. Second statement shows it is a pattern. Third statement subverts the pattern. It’s just a very efficient way of doing basically everything… and that natural rhythm being used everywhere means that it always feels part of some longer, primordial sort of storytelling. -- Kieron Gillen

It's about two versions of the same hero--one a campy, law-abiding Silver Age type, the other an ultra-violent modern vigilante--trapped on each other's worlds. I like all kinds of comics, old and new, and I think a lot about how they relate to each other. And it struck me that a person of a certain age might view their favorite superhero as an exemplar of, say, civic responsibility and courage, while a reader from a younger generation might see the same hero as a symbol of bloody revenge. Times change, characters change, readers change, but the trademarks and chest symbols stay the same. That's kind of nuts. -- Tom Peyer

He came out of the Mojave seeking the third.

He and his robots marched towards Las Vegas.

They were met on their way by the Free People, wanderers who walked the desert and lived in caves.

Over a meal, the People's leader asked the man with the robots for his story.

The man obliged, beginning with his humble origins and desire to rise.

He left some things out. )
