No, the X-Men have learned from their mistakes. Granted, they've made a helluva lot of mistakes, but at least they've learned. The Avengers never learn.
Learned? Really? Funny, I'm not getting that so much, considering some of Cyclops's moves during Second Coming could match the absolute stupidest plans on Xavier's part, and possibly a couple of Magneto's as well. "We're in desperate need of teleporters! So I'm going to be a dick to this one so that he'll leave the island and never want to work with us again, because he's not a mutant like us, and send this one into hell to retrieve another one she hates and who tried to eat her soul, and isn't even the real version anyway! It's brilliant!" Though, I'll admit, Gambit getting possessed and infecting others probably wasn't on the agenda. That was Guthrie's stupidity for inviting him along.
Telford didn't want to work with them in the first place. There wasn't any "driving him away", he was going to vanish at the first available moment anyway. His attitude was set by uXM #2.
TBH, I'm surprised Ty stuck around as long as he did. Sweet guy, but the only person he sticks around is Dagger, and since she's also his food source his motives there are questionable.
