*Main Post* 30 Days of Scans! Day 27: Favourite Origin

A rocket flew out of the sky and Superman was "born." Abin Sur died and Hal Jordan became a Green Lantern. A miracle baby made out of clay is the story of Wonder Woman's creation. Bruce Wayne's parents were gunned down in Crime Alley. The Joker has multiple back stories, no one ever knows which one is true or if he even knows at this point.

Whose origin do you love?

My favourite by far is Harley Quinn's; I happen to love Mad Love and it was one of my first comic purchases when I was like 12-years-old.

Other favourites:
Superman's!! <3
Batman's
Dick Grayson's
Jason Todd's as Robin (street kid caught stealing the tires off the Batmobile)
Jason Todd's as Red Hood (rose from the dead, Laz Pitted, etc.)
Harvey Dent/Two-Face's (particularly the B:TAS version)
The Joker's lack of an origin
Cassandra Cain's
Stephanie Brown's (complete with hitting Robin with a brick)
Spidey's (WITH GREAT POWER COMES GREAT RESPONSIBILITY, RAWR)

While of course missing that the cartoon took what was good and actually created a fairly complex world within itself. I mean if you think about it there's several instances of Fridge Brilliance in the cartoon that hasn't been present in any of the Titans subsets for a while.

Like in the first part of the Trigon Arc, Raven sees fire-monsters outside Titans Tower and the tower turned to stone. Come the end of the world, guess what happens? Fire monsters fighting the Titans outside the Tower.....which she'd already seen how that ended, ensuring that Trigon set the key to his own destruction in his little Mind-Rape message.

Also the Trigon and Terra arcs both become utterly terrifying when you put them into modern Titans comic world.

I do not doubt that both Raven and Terra would have been abused FAR worse by Slade in the comics. Hell, Terra would've probably been raped.

As it was they were scary enough as it is. The tendency of the cartoon to show death as Petrification gives the Trigon Arc actually one of the biggest cases of Fridge Horror ever if you think about it. The entire planet gets Taken For Granite for 2-3 days, possibly. My guess is that as Trigon was very clearly a Satan-analogue that he did *not* remove their minds first.

And now that you've said that that makes me think THAT flash by Zone would be canon if the show were adapted into modern comics. Thank you, I now need brain bleach. *gags.*

The thing about the Trigon arc is that Slade's interaction with Raven at the start of the arc is honestly some of the most shocking stuff I've seen in an American cartoon aimed at children. It seriously looked like he was going to assault her sexually and it made the entire episode very uncomfortable. Pearlman just sold it as his voice just added to how fucking creepy Slade was being there.

And had that not been a kid's cartoon, if it had been more like the *Spawn* cartoon they did a while back.....I don't think I need finish that sentence.

Didn't help that Toon!Raven took over Starfire's role as the Patron Titan of Fetish Fuel.

"I do not doubt that both Raven and Terra would have been abused FAR worse by Slade in the comics. Hell, Terra would've probably been raped."

I do believe that in the original Judas Contract storyline that was heavily implied.
