Why do comic fans get stereotyped so much?

A friend linked me to this yesterday, and I just had to share. Written and drawn by some guy who works in a comic book shop, Our Valued Customers is a webstrip in which he quotes actual things he's heard his customers say.

I've worked at a comic shop for about ten years, and at this point, I really just gotta say that I think we've lucked out when it's come to customers. Maybe it's the isolated nature of these cartoons that really shines a spotlight on them, but man, between these and your own experiences... yeah, I thank my lucky stars that my shop's customers at the very least keep such opinions to the internet.
