Why do comic fans get stereotyped so much?

A friend linked me to this yesterday, and I just had to share. Written and drawn by some guy who works in a comic book shop, Our Valued Customers is a webstrip in which he quotes actual things he's heard his customers say.

Some other stand-outs beneath the cut...

I've heard that before. I kind of wanted to ask them if they actually had two functional neurons to rub together and spark a thought in the logic center of their brain. I mean, what the hell? It sounds like a pre-fabricated line brainwashed into people's heads in a cult, or something. For fuck's sake. If they're going to be a bigoted jerk either way, can they at least make a half-assed attempt at being original about it, instead of spewing these trite lines made by twisting the Bible to their own ends, and then daring to act like it makes them witty somehow?

There's a case to be made for it being exactly that.

I think I've read about that, they made a very good case for it being the case at least some of the time. >_<
