I didn't read much of JLA after this because after Kelly's run it started going downhill for me. But J'onn was still vulnerable to flames associated with emotion(for instance, an orphanage burning down with children inside screaming), so he'd still be vulnerable in most supervillain encounters. Only he wouldn't become weak for absurd reasons like seeing a lit match or a candle.
