For me, it's several things. She's inspired by him as a symbol before anything else. It's very impersonal, and she works alone in most significant way. She already did a hell of a lot by herself to get to that point. And for me, one of the things about this is that Diana is one of not THAT many completely non-derivative female heroes, and that has very specifically just been taken away by the looks of these scans. Whereas Kate didn't already have that status to take away.
