Why does DC have Paul Cornell again? I had this comic on my pull list until I saw he was going to fill in two issues, and due to that I took it off. Now they go and do this...GAH. I mean, it's not going back on my list, but I'll watch for the trade when it comes out in seventy-five years. Gah!
Also, I'm going to say it: I like "the whole family" as defined by that last panel. Others will probably complain, but I like it.
...Except for the girls, who just aren't Real members of the family. This is a miraculous family composed entirely of men.
On a note on which I realize YMMV, what the hell kind of family movie night has everyone on separate chairs? This is what couches are *for*: family togetherness and that one sibling who appears to sharpen their elbows.
I mean yes, it's cute and fuzzy and I love it, but not unreservedly.
You might be the first to say it but no the first to think it. But then again Tomasi was Beechan's editor on Robin and helped him fashion "Evil Cass" (and unlike Beechan, Tomasi can't claim ignorance of the character since he was the editor and his was his job to catch dumb things like Cass making long monologues and suddenly knowing Najavo code). I don't think it's an accident that Cass's supposed adoption has only been mentioned once since the Beechan mini-series (in The Outsiders where it was insinuated the adoption didn't go through before Bruce "died").
All par for the course for DC though when dealing with Ms. Cain - Cass is alone in Hong Kong on Bruce's orders while "the boys" are home in Wayne Manor watching movies.
You would think that Damien would be interested in the movie that helped make his father "The Batman" and had a pivotal role in Bruce's life. Frankly, I'm surprised Damien doesn't know ALL about what made Bruce the Bat. It seems like the kind of thing Talia would tell him, so he could follow in his father's footsteps.
Damian, his hood, his ipod, and his sullen face. Only thing missing is him kicking Tim on the side while he's at it.
I don't know if I like that Bruce appears out of NOWHERE to catch that remote or not. Damned bats. (Also, it seems like a while since Bruce was in anything that wasn't black and skintight, but that might be because I haven't read too many issues lately.)
Leaving aside wider issues of meta-fail, which I am well aware exist, is it fair to argue, in-universe, that there are two "families" at play? The Wayne family, which is right here, and the Bat family, which also includes others, not present? Or does the fruit of the poisoned tree, as it were, mean the editorial decisions which delineate that split taint everything?
[Also, yes, poor Jason. My first thought, actually.]

Do you think that is supposed to be the status quo now? Has there been any official/semi-official comment ever? Does that mean that the higher-ups were cross with whoever stuck it in in the first place, or just that they later changed their minds?
