Additional infos on the new Teen Titans series

From what I read at s_d I'm not the only who was left worried after that Teen Titans #1 announcement DC made yesterday.
However, artist Brett Booth answered some questions at his blog and gave out a (little) bit more information on the new title, which might help calming down a bit and clear a few things about the characters.

You can read everything in the comments at Brett's blog, but the quintessence is behind the cut.



First of all, as some of you already know, the image DC released wasn't the cover for issue #1, but a promo pic Brett did. Anyway, the cover was leaked at tumblr and Brett confirmed that it's real. You can also see that a few (costume) changes were made between promo and cover.



(I'm not saying that it's better per se, but we get a better look at the charas.)

Superboy on the promo pic triggered some laughs because of that taped logo on his back: that really was a piece of paper Kid Flash put there (you can see him rushing there with paper if you have a closer look at the background) - a joke Brett wanted to do for the promo pic.

Kid Flash is Bart and Wonder Girl is Cassie (no infos yet what'll happen to Wally and Donna).

That "spider/witchblade" girl is a new character - no new version of Raven like a few fans thought. And yes, the Witchblade feel is intended.

The black & blue girl on the right is only referred to as the "Charcoal Girl". On the promo she was colored black and red-ish, which was changed afterwards from red to blue. Some fans thought it was Terra, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

No info yet on the guy in purple in the back.

And last but not least: someone asked about Tim and how worried he was that it sounds like Tim's history with the batverse will be altered drastically. Brett's answer to this was: "Tim will be fine. People are reading into things:)"

Should that give us hope? I'm still worried that their friendships might get a reboot, though.
And yes, the 90s seem to be back, but I'm totally digging Wonder Girl's costume there.

Good to know my fear of losing Tim is quickly dissapearing, but still sad that it looks like I will no longer get to enjoy him in the Bat'verse (where he belongs)

Never been a fan of Teen Titans myself, I prefer Tim to be at Bruce's side...or at least working closer with him.

I can understand that as a professional he's frustrated and annoyed by fanboy specualtion, but things like "Reading into things" is actually pretty much to be expected, especially when these are the images and phrasing that DC are using in attempting to instil excitement in their fanbase.

Kinda digging Cassie's costume here. It's combining a few different levels of Donna's costumes, which I like.


Kon looks way worse here than he did in the other picture.

Also, I know it's not Starfire, but the hair just looks so darn Starfire-y...

also, Kon looks like sex... heehee, sorry, but i have a thing for the sleevless all black look... and half gloves... mmmm so sexy.....

I didn't think Kid Flash's costume could look worse, but there it is. It looks like his cowl just had a close encounter with a lawnmower.

Also, Superboy's new secret origin revealed! He was from the Jersey shore.

My 8 year old was arguing that it had to be Starfire and then went with Blackfire but she's busy with Vril Dox in the no-longer-in-existence-REBELS book. Plus she's too old.

The way he said that we're "reading into things" makes me think that he's still going to have his history. Maybe that description was just for new readers who might have never heard of Tim and Red Robin?

The Superboy thing looks really disappointing and kinda creepy. (The Kid of Steel shouldn't be an actual Kid of Steel! Kon's not a brobot!)

I am kinda digging Supergirl's new look. She's got some kickass boots and I'm generally digging the redesign, though it might've been cool if they gave her blue tights to cover her legs.
