Leaked covers for the Superfamily in DCNu

Still keeping the symbol, lost the Red undies, also armorarmorarmor boots. And that Daily Planet globe always gets destroyed.

Oh my God! Kon what did they do to you? (Also different design from DCNu's Teen Titans Superboy)

I am so in love with that top and the way the cape goes around her neck. Not too crazy on the bottom part and the weird boots. Also it seems Kara escaped the pants for all women policy.

Ooh, it's Tron/Superboy crossover!

And WTF the rest.

How many more, exactly? Compared to the number of women in bathing suits and boob windshields and such?

Also, doesn't Hulk sort of not choose his costume? (It's just the default of him transforming and then selectively destroying his alter-ego's civs in the process?)

And didn't they actually change Namor's costume into a unitard, or did that end up being changed back again?

I apologize for forgetting Herc. Given the amount of ink he gets here, I really should've remembered him. :o

Seconding you so hard about the double standard thing, and the idea that it's "innately female" or whatever to show skin, as opposed to maybe deciding to cover it up.

Once a fan on another board said, "I think a lot of fans feel threatened by sexy ladies," or words to that effect. (During a discussion of Black Canary's traditional costume.) And I tried to explain that the "threatened feeling" is more in response to the Stepford-esque notion that every woman, everywhere would naturally define "sexy" exactly the same way, or prioritize it to the same degree over every other damn thing.

[sigh]

The gold and white thing she used to wear would be right at home in the newverse!

But many artists don't render five-o-clock shadow on dudes or any number of other details you'd see in hyper-realistic portraiture (as opposed to most comic book art). So why would they suddenly need to draw body hair on a dude's chest and legs just because we could see them?

(I actually like J'onn no matter what he wears. He doesn't get enough love, IMHO.)

I kept thinking that invulnerable or not, that thing must have made it tough to move around comfortably.

I could see it as leisure or even sexxxxxeee formal wear, I guess. But not something you'd want to wear in an environment where you had to be agile and quick to work effectively.

Also, I think the fact that he was always a bit different in Metropolis than in Smallville was sort of out of his control, like a runaway reputation. Especially in the late '80s comics, he often came off like that because he was always lying about why he was late, why he was in such and such a bizarre situation, why so many weird things happened to him, why he was always getting random mysterious tips from people no one knew, etc, etc, so everyone at the Daily Planet assumed he was this eccentric weirdo who Perry just kept around because he wrote really well, and Clark pretty much went "Yeah, that's a great idea! Um, I mean, yeah, that's what happened!" But then he would worry about how if he was always being so mysterious and weird, Lois might think he was a nutjob and would be even less likely to date him, or Jimmy might decide not to hang out with him anymore, or Perry might fire him, which is the opposite of his situation pre-Crisis, when he would worry that if Clark acted too confident, Lois/Perry/Jimmy might figure him out.

That's actually something I liked about him — instead of just pretending to be mild-mannered, he actually was. Not cowardly or anything, but the fact that he was like that naturally had a lot of complexity and depth and pleasing ideas about it — that a totally ordinary, even introverted person can be a great hero if he only has the means/power to do so.

I doubt many of the people who crack jokes about the underwear on the outside are thinking "if only they didn't do that though. Otherwise I would love to read about Superman."

I think I genuinely like that Supergirl costume. It seems like a lot more viable revamp of the Super costume than Superman's. It looks more coherent!

There had to be ONE redesign that didn't make me cry blood.

I'm calling it now that the redesign of Superman is different from Justice League and Superboy from Teen Titans.

Each book takes place on a different Earth. This will all lead into Grant Morrison's Multiversity.

Also, these three, assuming they are legit(and why would the art exist if otherwise?), make 51 titles. Action Comics, the single-longest-running title in comics, is not one of those 51. Is it going to be #52, or are they actually going to(temporarily, at least) cancel it?

Wow, the ultra-detailed, seams and line everywhere look for costumes doesn't work in the comics medium in general, but it *really* doesn't work for George Perez's art.

Now that you mention that picture of Nu-Superman by Pérez, Does it look like Nu-Superman is trying to kill the fire by using the Daily Planet's globe? I still insist on the idea that this looks more like a scene for a villain.

That's rather unlikely. Do you think there were a horde of people confused over the Transformers movies because they didn't line up with whatever the most recent Transformer cartoon was? Or that folks watching Smallville were perplexed that it didn't line up with SUPERMAN RETURNS?

If there's one good thing about the new costumes, it's that their presence, on top of the new #1s and whatever else DC's planning, will clearly mark that these are new, different versions of the characters.

At least Supergirl's belly showing is gone, those I wish they didn't give her a leotard. Now countless artists will be changing the bottom part of the outfit to look like toothfloss

Each book takes place on a different Earth. This will all lead into Grant Morrison's Multiversity.

That's started to cross my mind. DC would otherwise be tossing away an immense shared world - with all sorts of well-developed supporting characters - that they've been asking readers to invest in. Meanwhile, they've hardly exploited the new Multiverse.
