Issue #107 starts with Daredevil, still dealing with Milla being driven insane by Mr. Fear, once again taking his anger out on random thugs. Luke Cage decides to have a talk.

Of course, punching Luke Cage has the reaction you would expect, and Matt hurts his hand. Luke Cage says he's a mess, and asks him to calm down so they can talk, but Daredevil has pulled a Batman and disappeared in mid-sentence.

Luke Cage later decides to pay a visit to Dakota North.

Foggy's a bit incredulous about the whole thing, but Becky Blake believes that Donovan may be innocent.

Later, Dakota North looks over the crime scene photos with her contact at the FBI. It turns out the three kids were siblings, and the father has gone missing. Donovan hasn't confessed to killing the father, but it's believed that he may be withholding it for a temporary stay of execution. Donovan says the whole thing just doesn't wash.

Dakota later pays a visit to Matt. She thinks she stepped in something big and wants his help. She was hoping that the case could help Matt come out of his depression. After she leaves, he listens to the tape.

Donovan doesn't want anything to do with this, and asks Matt if he knew what he had done before he had gotten here. Matt says it doesn't matter, because what does matter is that he has been set up.

Matt tells Dakota and Luke that Donovan is terrified, but he's not terrified of's something else. He's hiding something. He later has a meeting with Ben Urich.

Dakota later finds out that the man who hit her was an FBI agent named Moss, and she confronts him.

As Daredevil, Matt goes into a bar looking for information on the murdered kids' father.

Dakota's father tells her to lay off the case, saying that it's a matter of national security and protecting the country.

Matt is visibly upset about Donovan later, but Foggy tells him that it's not his fault that he's in the situation he is and he shouldn't blame himself. "You need to remember this...he's not Milla."

Matt later says they have two options; either get Donovan to recant his confession, or find out evidence that exonerates him. He says that if they find out what he's trying to protect, that could help. Matt says that they should start to look for the kids' father as the cops abandoned looking for him once Donovan confessed.

Outside the building, an FBI agent is monitoring the conversation and tells his boss that their problem has just gotten bigger.

Matt later discovers from Turk from that Eric Slaughter, a retired mobster, is running a "legitimate" business at the docks.

Daredevil crashes through the window.

Matt manages to escape the snipers and realizes that this is bigger than he originally thought.

Daredevil later finds the sniper who shot Dakota, and it's the same agent who beat Dakota earlier. Matt demands to know why Slaughter has government protection, and Moss confesses that they needed someone on the inside on shipments from the Middle East.

Donovan later tells Murdock that Slaughter will do as he is told.

Man, does Luke EVER meet Matt without lecturing him? Matt needed it both times, but DAMN.

Eh, I debate his needing the lecture from Luke, who always acts like he doesn't have his head up his ass, but very often he does. One minute it's about "not hiding, telling the truth" (forget how much of a free-for-all that becomes), then it's "stand up and fight for people, use all your lawyer tricks" (despite that being totally what Matt and Foggy were doing before) and now "Stop going around and beating up guys not related to your fight" like it dishonors the work or something? I don't even know, but Luke used to do crap for money, who is he to talk about that?

I just don't like Luke being used as the "moral compass" guy in all this. Foggy usually has a better bead on that, being outside the whole masks set. Inside? I figure Peter would be a better choice.

I can't recall if I liked this arc when I read it, but I'm definitely enjoying it here. I'm pretty sure I didn't care much for the wrongly convicted trope and Matt's early brooding, but Dakota North is awesome.

Why don't you care for it? It's not like it hasn't happened in real life, even in cases related to terrorism like this one, eg the Guildford Four.

That case involved some Irishmen being accused and sent to prison on the basis that they were Irish and in London at the time of a horrific IRA bombing (though one was convicted on the basis that he was one of the suspect's dads and that he knew some IRA people).

The prosecution withheld information that backed up the guys in London's alibis, and wouldn't release them even after the real bomber admitted it was him after he was convicted of a different crime, and as a result they were imprisoned for YEARS. The dad of one of those convicted even died in prison as a result of this.

Motto, motto.

Although I hate seeing Luke in these comics (though I love him in general) for the consistent hating on Matt.
