However, Phantom of the Opera could easily be adapted to a futuristic sci-fi setting.

Strange, that.

They're probably arresting him for all the threatening notes sent to her workplace and attempted murder with stage lighting. ;)

But Christine was twenty years old in the novel; she had studied at the Paris Conservatory.

I've always disliked POTO for glorifying stalker and abusive boyfriend behavior, then justifying it in the sequel by making the Phantom the 'better choice' ultimatly.

Not that I think it's a bad musical and yes I know it was written to be a self depreciating love letter, but when you analyze it...

recommend the book since he is straight up crazy like whoa in it.

Prototypical cartoonish supervillain in a dark, gothic, horror story.

Straight up crazy like whoa, indeed.

I'm always surprised by what they did to Frankenstein's monster, he was such a tragic figure in the book and actually pretty smart. I think I may have actually cried when reading the book because both he and Frankenstein had nothing left at the end.
But yeah, the hairy palms on Dracula somewhat baffled me in the book. I guess it's to alienate him because humans never have hair on their palms? Oh god I need to read that book again, it was so lovely written...And yes, Mina was really nice in the book :)

Just look at the nurses in Silent Hill
they're not zombies per-se but they sure look like some, and damn if they're not fetishized...fetished...fetishified...uh
everything can be sexify and even if it can't there will be someone somewhere who finds it sexy. Humans are weird like that.

To be fair, Dracula wasn't described as particularly repulsive, just pale and cruel-looking. And he could be adequately personable when trying to make nice.

You do realise you're talking to someone who's never watched the first Musical in any version, let alone the sequel Musical, and that I was merely mocking the annoyingly Anglocentric assumption that any mention of Phantom (or Les Miserable for a similar case) would naturally refer to the musical rather than the novel it was based on (which I have read, on the other hand, though that was a while ago)?

It was also merged with Faust as Phantom of the Paradise, in the 70s. (Not a well-respected movie. I enjoyed it, though.)
