Oh shit. Huntress got in really deep with the sharks by issue five. I suppose that answers the question of who puts the bounty on her head.

it is seriously one of my favorite images EVER

The funny thing is, this is a VAST improvement in comparison with what he did in Gotham City Sirens, IMO.

There does seem to be some weird coloring choices after the fact. Both #1 and #2 covers were drawn to have backgrounds that look realistic for their settings, but were changed by release to be more of a pink/blueish tint.

See? THAT is an awesome Catwoman cover.

Rotate the image 180 degrees and look at the anatomy. It's bad for Batman and WAY WORSE for Selina.

[personal profile] darkknightjrk 2011-11-17 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah--I've been mostly enjoying the art of this book so far, but maybe that pose was a little too complicated for his own good.

At first I thought that was her boob hanging "upwards" towards her head and thought, "Cool! That is the way boobs work." Then I realized it was her shoulder. :(

As I wrote on my blog the Batwoman solicit has a glaring omission.
Love the Batgirl cover, though the Nightwing is my least favorite of this run so far.

Thanks! I hope I'm wrong as well.

[personal profile] darkknightjrk 2011-11-17 06:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Or maybe whatever's going on doesn't directly involve her. The way the series is moving, I kinda doubt she'll end up dead. If anything, Bette will probably save Kate's ass and she's going to have to have a big helping of humble pie over it.

I haven't been reading Batgirl but that is a really pretty cover!

There's a touch of Caselli in Huntress's expression

[personal profile] silicondream 2011-11-17 08:42 am (UTC)(link)
It's gonna be hilarious when Bane dies from blood poisoning or an air embolism or something. I mean, the man is basically going into battle with half a dozen giant IV tubes jacked into his bloodstream. Batman should just fling crap at him, run away and wait for the sepsis to set in.
glprime: (Default)

[personal profile] glprime 2011-11-17 02:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I always laughed at artists going overboard with the tubes. It's like, the idea of a stimulant/mutagen going straight into his brain cavity is one thing I can kinda buy in comics (though it makes more sense if it went into both his arms and legs, along with a chest port), but having something the size of a garden hose stuck in your head is NOT a good idea (unless you're some kind of posthuman cyborg).

Nightwing in BLUE!! NOT RED!! BLUE!! WWOOohhoooOOO!!! *high fives all by himself*

[personal profile] darkknightjrk 2011-11-17 06:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Nah, that's just the lighting/highlights. Note that the mask or the neck was never colored red. This is the artist using the blue to show that there's light reflecting on the costume.
midnightvoyager: Just Middy (FAIL)

[personal profile] midnightvoyager 2011-11-17 07:40 pm (UTC)(link)
That's... REALLY OBVIOUSLY BLUE, though. There is no red in it, except in what appears to be a reflection from the sky. You could hardly get bluer if you tried.

If that is supposed to be lighting, I would say it was a vastly greater fail than forgetting it's red now.

I am really not feeling that Nightwing cover, both on coloring and general design. I wish that one had a variant I could try for. I just don't even want to have to look at it sitting on my desk.

The anatomy in that Catwoman cover is atrocious. Bruce is pretty bad, but poor Selina, what's happened to your body?

Also, on the Batgirl solicit"

"[Batman] has a few choice words to say about her return to crime fighting!"

Of course he does.

Did... did Batwoman get psychic powers? She seems to be doing the standard 'time for psychic powers' pose, as perfected by Charles Xavier and Jean Grey.

Pstandard Psychic Pstance? Yep. That or a really bad migraine from a long night of crime-fighting.

Ivy's costume still looks dumb, but at least they're trying some tendril stuff to save it, I guess...? I dunno, still one of the worst redesigns for me.
