Emma's comes off as a little insecure when it comes to Jean doesn't she. I guess the fact that we never found out who Scott had chosen before Jean died is part of why she's not as confident as she is when it comes to, well everything else. Still, I don't think Emma cares that Jean is a more powerful psionic than her.
Emma may never have been an ideal Phoenix host, but she seems to be mentally stable most of the time. Whereas the Phoenix seems to have a rather... destabilizing effect on the personalities of those who are anything less than godlike (I'm not speaking of the Dark Phoenix, just Jean post-return all the way to her death by Xorn).
Also, is it me or do Namor's spocklike ears (actually didn't Namor come first, so isn't that Spock's Namorlike ears?) make you think of his wife-stealing attempts as "She is yours. After a time, you may find that having is not so pleasing a thing, after all, as wanting." Sue and Emma and Namor would be a cute OT3.
P.S: What effect do you think the Phoenix force actually has on a host?

that's... complicated... Rachel Housed the Phoenix force and she was fine. The original "Phoenix" used jean's "template" but lacked her essential humanity. When Jean actually got the Phoenix, she, like Rachel seemed to handle it fine. When she went kinda dark in Resurrection it was because Quentin Quire pulled her out too soon so she was in state of shell shock...
so i think its not so much what effect the Phoenix Has on the host, but what effect the host has on the phoneix

I still don't even understand what's up with Scott getting all these bombshells fighting over him. He's the one who should be lacking confidence about his partners sticking around. I've read that some writers like to says he's Marvel's Batman or whatever, but Bruce, reticent and dweeb-ish as he may be, is a self-sufficient billionaire. *Emma* is single-handedely keeping Utopia running with her money.
"Oh, he's the leader of the X-Men!" Who gives a shit? Namor is right there!
Speaking of leader of the X-Men, considering how highly Xavier thought of Scott, was there ever a story about how Scott's mind is some sort of catnip for telepaths? Is that his secondary mutation? Living, breathing telepath catnip?

That's actually a popular fan theory actually. Consider this: Jean, Betty, and Emma have all demonstrated an attraction to Scott. Though Betty's attraction is significantly less than Jean and Emma. It's highly likely that aside from having a) optic blasts, b) advanced geometric calculation abilities he might have c) a mind that is immensely sensually appealing to a telepath. We should put him in a locked room with a gay telepath for a month to test your theory about Xaviour. I'd never even considered what effect Scott might have had on Prof. X. Hmmm... maybe it encouraged strong paternal feelings sort of like a brood parasite (the real world behaviour of eating eggs and leaving yours behind, that will be cared for by the mother and then eat the mother when they hatch - remember the Simpsons?).
P.S: The brood parasite behaviour is probably where the idea of the "Brood" came from.
hmmm well if you think of it from this point of view....
Scott does have a fascinating mind. the fact that he DOES have an extremely advanced geometric calculation and strategic mind, must make his mind extremely complex. Also in WHedon's run *bows in reverence at the mention of one of my high gods* showed that he himself is blocking out his control of his powers BECAUSE he needs something to struggle with,, adds credence to this
Scott has only demonstrated a couple of leadership tactics.
1. Battle plans (Read: X-Men vs Nul Breaker of Worlds) 2. X-Force: Which ended up becoming a divisive issue 3. Having Psylocke organize a new security division for Utopia: which he should have done when he bloody set up in San Fransico over a year ago!
Overall, his battle plans are essentially what an average comicbook reader would come up with. I think the writers have trouble coming up with ways to simulate combat with superpowers so they often end up with "You fail military strategy forever."
Maybe so but I mean look at who he is up against. As far as comic leaders go the only competition Scott really has for the number one slot is "Hit 'Em Hard and Fast" Captain America.
heh that said, its just i have never seen sinister portrayed like this... oh i like, we need more fabulous villains, Emma is on the side of angels now, sinister had to fill the void
Honestly, from what I've seen so far, this portrayal of Sinister is kind of annoying to me. Mainly because, as you said, he hasn't really been portrayed like this before. He's usually portrayed as being pretty cold and calculating about the things he does and comes off pretty creepy at times. This portrayal just comes off as him being like, "Look at how sassy I am!"
Well, from the text in the issue at hand, this is the "Perfect" Sinister that Sinister spent his life building and was activated upon the original's death.
As he puts it in the issue, (paraphrased) "I am the self-creating Frankenstein's Monster looking in the mirror and appreciating the fantastic jawline he has wrought."
"I am the self-creating Frankenstein's Monster looking in the mirror and appreciating the fantastic jawline he has wrought."
.....right.
Honestly, after reading through the first issue of Uncanny, I really have no interest in picking it up since I find this team line up to be really boring and the whole issue was rather "blah" for me. Even the parts that I'm sure were meant to be shocking, like Emma's arm getting knocked off, just felt entirely bland to me. Although my not caring about that one is because I'm positive that Emma will be magically fixed by the end of the arc. I'm actually glad that I don't want to pick up the book, because then that would mean I'd have to read about this depiction of Sinister, whom is a character I have always enjoyed quite a bit in the past. *points to her username* So, yeah, call me when Sinister goes back to being himself. In the meantime I'll be reading Wolvie's book where most of the fun characters are.
He's usually portrayed as being pretty cold and calculating about the things he does and comes off pretty creepy at times.
I don't think this will be of much consolation to you, but he (they, actually, Sinister made a species out of himself) came off incredibly cold, calculating and creepy in this issue to me. The flamboyant thing didn't actually detract from any of that.
There was a point to what he was doing, and it wasn't to be all "Look at how sassy I am!"
They never actually consumated their relationship in the physical world until after Jean was killed by Xorn. Remember how Scott tried his "It's just a psychic thing?" God I hated that: you're dating the universe's strongest telepath! She's well aware of how real psychic sex is you cheating bastard.
I guess it's a death of the author thing but it was the same author who wrote that that ended up making the psychic affair not a deal breaker for Jean or the actual establishment of a relationship for Scott.
Yeah, I definitely wouldn't call it a defense, but between his emotional issues after being possessed by Apocalypse and her slowly but surely becoming even more post-human with the Phoenix Force, the relationship was already growing apart, and it became the straw that broke the camel's back.

That’s correct.
And you… led the team.
Exactly.
I CAN'T HANDLE THIS INTERVIEW'S BEAUTY
Date: 2011-11-30 06:01 pm (UTC)Well, I told them teamwork was valuable and that they should work as a team. I don’t know what more you could ask of me than that.
Really?
Some of them seemed to actually get a kick out of ignoring me. Heck, a lot of them still do.
I can’t imagine.
I still maintain that Thunderbird might have lived if we had been more coordinated.
You lost a team member?
On our second mission, yes.
That must have been terrible.
I told them, “This is what happens when you don’t work as a team! Next time listen to me better!”
