I wasn't a huge fan of Daniel's last run, but I have to admit that this looks pretty solid. Dollmaker and his family are solid ideas for new villains, and I'm curious to see what they're doing with Joker.

Was beginning to think I was the only one who's a fan of them.

They remind me a bit of Leatherface and his family in Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and in a lot of ways they're an extremely dark mirror of the Bat-Family. With some more work to make each member unique, they could become mainstays.

Okay, how the nose remain the same shape? Unless Joker literally sliced that off too. And have they revealed why Joker decided to skin his face?

IIRC the nose isn't a particularly solid structure, it's basically skin over cartilage no? That certainly could have been removed, and until we next see the Joker, it's sort of hard to argue what he had sliced off or not.

Not entirely. The tip of the nose is made of cartilage but the bridge itself is solid bone. And the bridge is present. :P

"And have they revealed why Joker decided to skin his face?"

If I were to wager a guess? They're going for that "transformation" aspect that Morrison established and taking it the next step by literally changing his face.

...Look, I know that Gotham PD are the people who kept Black Mask's skull and one of his eyes preserved in alcohol in thier evidence locker, but seriously, wouldn't, I don't know, trying to graft the Joker's face back on be more of a priority than keeping it like some kind of ccryogenically preserved hunting trophy?

It smacks of the same mentality as those American football fans in the Simpsons who stole a player's severed leg to play like a guitar and drunk beer out of after it scored a winning point or something, rather than giving it back to the guy who they could reattach it.

Makes you wonder if they have the Barbara Gordon paralysis bullets still around somewhere, though in Gotham Central some of the CSI guys were revealled to be selling supervillain related evidence on eBay, so chances are THAT is probably in some museum somewhere along with some of the Penguin's helicopter umbrellas and one of Killer Croc's teeth.

But if they didn't cryogenically preserve the skin it would succumb to necrosis and they wouldn't be able to reattach it then. :P

I know it'll probably be reattached later, but it still seems that the GCPD guys are holding on to it instead of getting it and the Joker to a hospital because it makes for a good conversation piece.

Do they actually have the Joker in custody? I haven't been reading the book to the overall gross factor of faceless Joker. XP

I thought that the Dollmaker cut off the Joker's face whilst he was in his cell back in Arkham or something.

He did, and Dollmaker and the Joker escaped soon afterward.

They don't, no.

He is, or was, theoretically, working with Dollmaker.

I thought the whole point of this part of the story is that the Joker has disappeared, leaving his face behind. Some believe he's dead (as mentioned in Suicide Squad), but I doubt Batman does.

Am I the only one who's still grossed out by the constant reshowing of the Joker's sliced-off face? It me the goosebumps to the point of needing to hold on to the skin on my neck. XP

Wow, you don't want to look at the newest Suicide Squad cover then, which is Harley hugging Deadshot with the Joker's severed face loosely stuck over Deadshot's mask.

I know. I posted the aforementioned cover on here a few days ago. Didn't notice the Joker's skinless face on Deadshot until I got a closer look at it.

You Know...

With Joker's severed face hanging there, I have to ask.... is this the "most unnecessary darkest twist" that has been made in comics? Next to BND and OMIT, of course.

That last page screams, "Hey! Remember that SUPER controversial ending in issue #1? BAM! We'll just redo it. Shock, right?! Hey, where ya going? It's SHOCK!"

More like schlock. Right? RIGHT? *holds his hand up high*

Isn't the whole NEW 52 about the shock value?
When's Ambush Bug coming back?

Eh, I wouldn't say so. I'm talking more about the seeming need for gore in some titles purely for shock value (or sex, in the case of Catwoman).

I've been surprised by how much I've been enjoying some of the new 52 titles (Frankenstein, Animal Man, Action Comics, OMAC).
