I've been looking for this for a while, and it was thanks to [personal profile] chocochuy post that I went looking for it again, and this time I found it! :)

Rerun follows in the family tradition... or does he?

I am glad of been of service, Icon_UK, and I thank you for posting this psychological thriller. It's neat to see Lucy been trapped on one of those mind games for a change. You could say the men from the Van Pelt family are more benign towards good ol' Charlie Brown (or so we think).

Now, if only we knew what Rerun did...

We'll never know.

He kicked it for a field goal like a champ.
Rerun would NOT have pulled it away; it goes against his character.
I like how Charles Schulz deliberately left this one open; only long-time readers would get the joke. A casual reader wouldn't.

No way Rerun pulled the ball away. That would be so out of character for him.

Five bucks says, Rerun took off with the ball for fear being kicked himself.

Thank you so much for posting the link and having me go to bed at four in the morning on a Sunday night plowing through the archives!

Weapon Brown is now yet another of my guilty pleasures.

The ball wasn't removed, but due to Rerun violating the Law of Peanuts, space/time was torn asunder, with hellish creatures from beyong human imagining flowing into the world from the place outside of reality!

Rallying quickly with the assistance of a violent British drunk with a cloth cap, a Norwegian Goth and an orange cat, they managed to force the things back into the void. But this victory came at a terrible loss, with the Red Haired Girl getting dragged into the creature's dimension as they left.

Readying himself for battle once again, Charlie Brown and his warriors did venture into the portal located in Snoopy's doghouse to get to the Realm of Shuttered Agonies to retrieve his lost love.

And they did so, and only with the cost of Rerun's left asscheek.

Then they had cake to celebrate.

And with that short synopsis, we can see why NOBODY but Charles Schulz should be expected to write the strip.
Really???? asscheek????
Have you no respect for the dead???
"PEANUTS" was an all-ages comic. Trying to make it otherwise is disrespectful of both the comic and Charles Schulz.
Read this:

Despite how horrific or poorly designed a parody was, Schulz was always cheery and friendly to people.

Not all things are meant to be taken seriously. I would hate to see your reaction to Weapon Brown.

Jason Yungbluth is a particular favorite of mine, if you must know.
I get a little edgy when it comes to anything that detracts from the awesomeness of the Peanuts comic.
TRUE STORY: I was going to fail the first grade in school because I couldn't read, so my grandmother bought me several of the old Peanuts paperback books published by Fawcett, and I learned to read (by continually asking Gramma how to pronounce each word) because of Charlie Brown and Snoopy. It's not just me trying to be a douchebag, I seriously have a special place in my heart for Schulz and all his characters, and hate to see them marginalized in any way.
My favorite character is actually Peppermint Patty, because she has trouble reading in school like I did when I was young. And besides that, I'd bet money that Patty would be the one who actually got married to 'Chuck' if there were ever a "20 years later" version of the comic.

Patty was clearly meant for Linus. What about the time he kissed her at summer camp?!

Then again, based on that logic Lucy is destined to be with Snoopy...

A wonderful story, and no, you didn't come off as an ass at all. You came across as somebody who cares about the work in question greatly, and just took an innocent quip too seriously. Espanol didn't mean any harm, or to replace Schulz as a writer. It was just a funny, well written, and creative little piece all in good fun.

As a fellow Peanuts fan, I appreciate your passion.

But as a girl who could never quite help identifying with Lucy just a little bit, I feel that you really, really deserve to be mocked for this response. :/

FYI, I think espanolbot was engaging in a spot of whimsical incongruence, otherwise known as a "joke."

...This reads like parody. I think it's four question marks in a row, used twice, in adjoining sentences. Also, that's really kind of a ridiculous sentiment. I believe that you should be able to make fun of things.

I read so many Peanuts books in my early teens. I remember the strips with Rerun riding around behind his mother on her bike. I've never read this one, though. As a climax to the football pulling away saga, I think it's pleasantly ambiguous.
