Yeah both Kirby and Byrne understood Apokolips as a combination of the worst of medieval ages and a S&M nightmare, Jim Lee undeestood Apokolips as the last stage for some lame PS3 game (like Dante's Inferno did with the work of Dante Alligeri).

Im happy Darkseid doesnt have the mini skirt though (I know is a reference for the medieval executioners but made him look silly) I miss his Nazi leather boots

As a Linguistic and Filology student I felt that game was a huge waste of good potential, the repulsive idea to make an adaptation of the book for an action game is worse when you think what could have beign.

I have a friend that worked on video game scripts for a small company in Chile and once I told her that Dante's cosmology coyld make a greatopen world game, like Skirym and using the character of Dante as a guide for the player (as dante would just not work as a main character)

What obsed me the most was the despiction of purgatory, It should have been a safe place for the player but instead you are forced to kill babies (and the creators ridiculous claims that is not their fault the book is wrote that way)

Whilst agreeing with the point you raise (though there's nothing wrong with a man in a long tunic or kilt), we try to avoid using "lame" as an epithet on s_d, as it's an ableist term.

I once did an essay about how the linguistic system had removed "lame" as an ableist word because of the change of the semantic field through the use. I say this because I dont feel is wrong to use the word.

However I will respect your customs and will refrain to use the word again.

*sigh* when will this whole New 52 thing wrap up so we can get the old DCU back? With the characters, costumes, designs, stories and continuities that we cared about?

I actually like some of the redesigns. Superman's is even growing on me, and as needlessly complicated as it is Cyborg looks so much better than he used to. But its stuff like this that makes me miss everything else.

I dunno, there's a lot of stuff I like about the new 52. Like the fact that Kon-el has a costume again. And that he's now pretty much the illegitemite love-child of Kyle XY and Prince Zuko.

Curious, I cant stand Kon-El now, his personality and background is a pale rememberance to his glorious days, the fact that he has to share screen time with a irrecognosible Rose Wilson (that is everything but Rose Wilson) and with a pathethic excuse of Cathlin Fairchild.

The book can be fine, but the characters dont have a coherent history or identity, they are made as the comic go (and tbat is not a good sign) and made me question if the writer has any sense of direction. At least 80% of the DC books have the same problem and 20 are alredy showing signs of drowning.

Weren't Mother Boxes like the proprietary technology of New Genesis and Apokaliptans used Father Boxes? Not sure. Blasted new continuity. :P

Personally I liked Desaad's old look. In his origin, he was once a perfectly normal, kindhearted boy who got mindf***ed by Darkseid (pardon my French) and became a sadistic crazy torturer.

The thought that the potential for great evil lies within even the most innocent of people made him an intriguing character.

Now if Desaad had been reintroduced as a normal looking person, maybe even a human being, who witnessed Darkseid's invasion and decided to throw his lot in with Apokalips in order to spare his family from death and was ordered to torture others to ensure his loved ones' safety but slowly began to degrade physically and mentally into a monstrously deformed sadist with no trace of the humanity he once valued....well that's what fanfic is for.

tl;dr preferred "normal" pre-reboot look

Given Kirbys tendency to bombast, Desaad being a slimy greasy little perv of a man who made you want to shower just being in the same room as him was a nice touch.

Desaad being the Master from "The Deadly Assassin" is just... uninspired.

That's exactly where my mind went too. (And I liked that creepy look.) But for Desaad. That's just sad.. :(

Sigh. Why bother with subtlety when there's a perfectly serviceable jackhammer you can hit the audience in the face with, instead?
