Big events are always a good time to catch up with the family

So much for that promise, Pietro.

Damnit, I hate those narration boxes. Sooo corny.

I'm not particularly impressed by how this plays up Wanda as spoooooooooooky and creeeeeeeeepy.

Oh, please. Like anything bad would happen.

I mean, it's not like she did anything major the LAST time the X-Men and Avengers crossed over, right?

[personal profile] spacebetween 2012-04-21 06:42 am (UTC)(link)
Chances are she would have gone without him suggesting it. She has shown that she would like to mend fences with those in the Avengers. Regardless of the fact that the X-Men and Avengers are not her biggest fans, she is still a hero at heart and if she has a dream of the world ending in flames of the Phoenix, she will step into prevent it.

Still this is all rather forced, the sudden dream journal of hers. The need to make her enter the fray so early on or at all. Still makes me think that at the end of this mutants will be back in numbers on way or another.

Everything about this is awful. The art, the attempt at foreboding, the dialogue, the narration boxes. This just looks like a train wreck to me.

Truly I read this as Wanda thinking:
Another day, another superhero conflict. You'd think the media would get bored. Also, the end of the world is coming, again. Time to get some ice cream, and fudge.

So anvillicious. If they had to bring Wanda into this, she really deserves better.

Also, has anyone found Pietro's brain yet? Because there certainly doesn't appear to be one in his head.

Wanda doesn't look spooky and creepy at all. She looks sensible. Any intelligent person wouldn't go anywhere near that fiasco.

I'm sorry, but those panels with Wanda just radiate bad-assery for me right now. She's all like "two of the most powerful super-groups on earth are fighting, possibly to the death!? Whateves, I gots therapy I needs ta do."

Given one group of Avengers essentially allowed one of their members to speak for them as a whole, to give her the finger and tell her to get lost, and back in House of M, I recall it being the X-Men who wanted to kill her, I don't see why she would WANT to intervene for either side.

And now I'm imagining Scarlet Witch becoming the Phoenix's new host.

Given some of the dumber upcoming AvX covers, that seems fairly likely. I'd personally bet ten bucks she becomes the host, sacrifices herself and that ends up resetting Magneto back to villain status, personally.

I'm pretty sure I'm missing something. Did the fight spill over from Utopia to San Francisco?

Utopia is not that far off the coast of San Francisco, so the traffic copter may have noticed the helicarrior appearing.

And I'm still convinced that AvsX will boil down to Wanda (backed by reluctant Avengers) vs. Hope (backed by brainwashed X-men), as Hope uses the Phoenix's powers to force every human to mutate, and Wanda ends up over-using her own powers to keep people from dying from forced mutation (like the X-men first movie), and then die and somewhat redeeming herself for House of M. Afterwards, mutants will start being born again, de-powered mutants will regain their powers, and Hope will no longer be a messiah.

At least, that's what it feels like it is building up to, what with Hope being the Mutant Messiah and all the showcasing of Wanda the Mutant Massacrer.

The funny thing is, we've already had an A vs. X fight back in Ultimate Marvel. It was pretty much a curbstomp in favor of the Ultimates.

So...excuse me for not exactly following all 100+ X-Men books, but is this the reason why the Phoenix will be back? Wanda simply magics her back?

"October 12th, 1985: Lockjaw carcass in alley this morning, Fantasticar tread on burst stomach. Utopia is afraid of me. I have seen its true face. The Yancy Streets are extended gutters and the gutters are full of Elsa Bloodstone and when the drains finally scab over, all the Maggotts will drown. The accumulated filth of all their X-Men and Skrull Kill Krew will foam up about their waists and all the Crystals and Nick Furys will look up and shout 'Save us!'... and I'll whisper 'No more mutants.'
