Actually, Gar and his abilities predate both the Green and the Red by nearly two decades or so! :) (Though originally his animal forms were normal coloured, only their head was green

Plus given how iconic (DC Editorials favourite word) Gar Logan is as Beast Boy, since he's starred in two high profile cartoon series, changing him seems to just be bloody mindedness on someone's part.

Oh yeah, definitely. Don't get me wrong, I hate that they turned both him and Nightwing red. Too many characters running around with that color, takes away from the uniqueness of their looks. They all start to kinda blend together, and that's bad. But, I get why they did it, and it sort of makes sense. They changed Gar red because of The Red. That actually makes it a bit better for me, as I've been loving the Rot story. Still rather they didn't. Though, I hate Nightwing going red even moe knowing the reason, as it's because of the Robin Legacy, and tying him to that seems like a step backward.

Also, this:

Did not know that.

I've been quite liking the stories on both Animal Man and Swamp Thing as well, but even if they've managed to create a comparable mythos it still does not make sense.

The use of red and green works within their respective titles as a stylistic choice because the artists use it to great effect on the pages. If you're going to extend this to the character you need to have a design choice to do as much or else it's a meaningless gesture. Continuity of a universe cannot serve as an excuse to change things around to the detriment of the medium, and in this case you're changing from a rather unique use of colour to an over used colour in this day and age as well as diminishing the recognizable iconography of the character.

Didn't we have that same argument with Starfire? DC Editorial could clearly not give less of a fuck about any kids who watch their cartoons buying their comics.
