I wouldn't start by limiting something as wild and diverse as life to a colour, it's a nonsense, as there IS no defining colour for animal life.

The old Animal Man series made reference to the term "Lifeweb" which is at least a little more descriptive of the concept of life being linked.

The Green sort of works as plants (aside from fungi) at least have the green of photosynthesis in common, so it was less of an issue to me.

Fungi aren't plants. They belong to a separate kingdom, so they are as distinct as plants and animals. I suppose fungi would be part of the Rot, as many thrive on decaying bio-matter.
