The Many Loves of Archie Andrews--the Continuing Saga

A bit late for "Beyond the Big Two" week, but I know you folks like Archie-related posts...

Archie #634, and the finale of the "Archie Marries Valerie" timeline!

To recap: Valerie of Josie and the Pussycats has become interested in Archie Andrews. While considering if this is a wise move, she wanders into the Memory Lane area of the Yellow Woods and starts having visions of a possible future.

Valerie and Archie get married. They form the duo of "Him and Her." Veronica becomes a Pussycat. The Archies reform as "Sugar Sugar" with Trev (Valerie's brother and Betty's new squeeze), Betty, Reggie and Jughead. Archie and Valerie have a baby girl named Star, who turns out to be a musical prodigy.

The proud parents allow Star to be in the show, and the adorable tyke is an immediate hit. Meanwhile, the Pussycats are bigger than ever, with a Veronica-penned song hitting #1 on the charts. Ronnie still would prefer to be with Archie, though. Meanwhile, Sugar Sugar sounds great, but Trev and Betty aren't able to balance their love life with the needs of the group and Jughead quits in disgust.

Trouble brews when the papparazzi get a little _too_ interested in Star, and private time starts getting intruded on. The Andrews try cutting back her appearances, but Star is now a more vital part of their act than her parents.

Valerie decides to head back to reality, but is tempted by another path, in which Archie marries Cheryl Blossom. Cheryl's done her best to turn her wedding into the media event of the year. They're even selling wedding sweatshirts at Wal-Mart! But as long as they love each other, it's okay, right?

Hmm...are we allowed to use the word "henpecked" anymore?, because that's what Archie is in this dystopian future...

Well, maybe "Archie marries Sabrina the Teenage Witch" will turn out better.

Sabrina is punished by having her magic removed, but the young couple vows to make it through.

There's an Archie/Josie future, which Valerie finds very painful. Valerie decides she's not even going to look at the Betty and Veronica futures, because "we've already gone there!"

Valerie meets Archie, and makes a decision about the future...what decision? You'll have to buy the book for that. And Dilton closes the story with a bit of philosophy.

No one likes Cheryl. Which is sad because she's also the only one who has ambition to outside of this hick town.

So naturely she first is made to be an underpaid, overworked waitress and then given cancer.
