Haven't posted random scans of Philémon in ages, so here's another dose of French weirdness:

Mr. Barthelemy, proud denizen of the isle of A, returns to the world of the alphabet isles, and the young Philémon asks his uncle, the only person who shares his taste for the fantastic, to help him find a way there. So:

And then Fred takes it to a whole new level. He helps a witch:



Flies out of his own comic book:



Flies through a battle:



Before landing back on the same spot:



And he doesn't find Berthelemy in this volume because that's really just an excuse to draw all this.

Fred is the missing link between Winsor McCay and J.H. Williams III.
