Also, Kate is still awesome. God, they need to make a Young Avengers show, just to how the rest of the world how awesome she is.

Anyway, Hawkeye has proven to be the best thing Marvel has right now, with possible exception to Winter Soldier, Daredevil, and a small handful of other titles. But, the one problem I, and many othes had was Clint sleeping with Cherry, despite him being in a relationship with Jessica Drew at the time.

And in this issue, she apparently confronts him about it.

Preview of Hawkeye #9 - Jess slaps Clint for sleeping with Cherry

As much as I love Clint Barton, he being my favourite Avenger and, thanks to this being so awesome and Spider-Man being so not awesome, is currently my favourite character at the moment, I think really deserves that. At least we'll finally get some explanation.

Considering she could take his head off if she wanted to, I think they're both being remarkably calm.

Apparently women coming to the door and angrily slapping Clint is a common enough feature of his household that it didn't even wake the dog up. That's interesting.

Meanwhile, it wasn't until last issue when Jess and Cherry showed up that I thought, "Oh yeah, he was seeing Spider-Woman, wasn't he?"

"Clint, en"

I'm from the mid 1990s and I find that typo hilarious.

I'm fairly certain that Fraction knows Clint and Jess are supposed to be together, given I *think* they're still pushing the couple in Avengers Assemble, which Fraction's own wife writes. As such, I don't think either your A, B or C actively works, I'm afraid. They hadn't been shown to break up, they were serious enough that Steve was asking about it, and.. Well, I doubt very much Fraction wouldn't know given, again, his wife writes an Avengers title and he's one of the top guy in the company.

and the slap was a 'we JUST broke up, WTH!?' slap

Which, IMHO, would be just as wrong-headed as some possessive guy hitting his ex-girlfriend for going out with someone "too soon" after they broke up, as if she requires his permission or approval to conduct her personal life. They'd better have been dating or ambiguously fizzled out with no statement of actual break-up at the time she found out about Cherry.

I like this a lot more than I usually do this kind of "You bastard!" soap operatics, and given that this doesn't even have the dialogue yet I've got to hand it to David Aja's art for nailing the tone of this scene perfectly.

Also, Clint really looks beat to shit on this page doesn't he? I hadn't thought about it, but Clint has spent much of this series covered in bandaids.

Or, it could be that he just got banged up by a robot of some kind

In keeping with the trend that should probably be Jocasta, yes? :D

Was it ever established whether the amnesiac Wanda Clint slept with was the Doombot or not? And for that matter, would that make it more or less creepy than it already was?

Well, they made a point of it in Children's Crusade, though I suppose there's wiggle room that it might have been the real Wanda before the robot doppelganger had been substituted for her. But that scenario destroys the awesomeness that is Clint standing next to Jessica Jones and Hank McCoy while finding out it he'd boinked a Doombot.

I have no idea why anyone would be upset over this characterization of Clint. He's a man. It's a story. These things happen in people's lives.

It turns out that fictional characters are interesting when they're flawed, human characters , and not super-squeaky-clean perfect saints who poop out rainbows!

This. It's why I rather liked the results of Mockingbird letting the Phantom Rider die; I didn't like what he had done to Bobbi, but I thought that was an interesting situation to investigate, that she felt what she'd done was justified and refused to apologise, but he couldn't even begin to consider her perspective on the matter. So.. Yeah. Clint's always been one of the more flawed Avengers, to me. He's more interesting that way.

Do you have a link to this fic? I've been looking for filmverse Clintasha fics, but I just go so sick of finding Bobbi bashing.

Nice control, Jess. A full-strength slap from her should've turned Clint's skull into a fine red mist.
