Do people not think of this. It was bad enough when Catwoman was jailed with male inmates in TDKR, but this .... I mean come on

But she's Hit Girl, with her mystical Hit Girl powers, that allows her to steal cigarettes through solid walls, and rule a prison from an isolation cell.

Plus the usual "character so amazing/evil/broken/cool that psychiatrists can't cope" trope.

Didn't they have a line in TDKR that prison for women can't hold her or something?

Mark Millar's original notes to John Romita jr.: "I can't think of an original character, John. I just can't. Just draw Walter White in a suit and we'll call him Doctor White so's people don't notice and have Hit-Girl call him "Bitch" and maybe Bryan Cranston will play him in the movie if I send chocolates."

It's exactly the same character model that Romita Jr. used for the character for Cornelius Worth, Robert Reynolds psychiatrist in Paul Jenkins second Sentry miniseries pubished in 05/06

Seriously, read a book, Lana

Honestly, the first thought on my mind was that he was psychologist, period. I actually thought he was black for a second.

I wouldn't be surprised if John Romita Jr. hadn't actually intended to make him look like Walt, and that he did so subconsciously. I also recall that there are plenty of cases in which artists utilize celebrity likenesses when drawing characters, so the Bryan Cranston thing may have genuinely been a coincidence.

I wouldn't be surprised if he looked nothing like his comic book counterpart in a film adaptation. (And even if they did get Bryan Cranston to play him... would you mind telling me why that would be a bad thing??)

For two series and counting. And where "cool" means "gobs of ultraviolence masquerading as social commentary."

Which is ironic, considering it was initially marketed as a "realistic" depiction of what superheroes would have to be like in order to exist in reality.

...I'll just let that sink in for a moment.

Well, if there's one thing to look forward to, it's Kick-Ass 3...the FILM version.

In the right hands this stuff can actually be decent, entertaining, and only mildly offensive instead of galactic offensive.

I actually found the film more offensive than the book. Because they copy the "fun stuff", the ultra-violence and sex and swearing, but back away from the self-critique Millar puts in. Like, in the book Big Daddy is a loser who ruined his daughter's life because of his superhero fantasies. In the film his backstory is true and he's genuinely a vigilante avenging a personal tragedy (who ruined his daughter's life to do so). Or like how in the movie Kick-Ass gets the girl and they have a lot of sex. In the book she recognizes him for the creep that he is and he ends up alone and miserable.

What is a young girl doing in a male correctional facility? It doesn't matter how much of a badass she is, nobody in their right mind, is going to put a woman particularly a teenager, in an all male prison.

I just find Hit-Girl to be a nauseating character, but then, I can probably say that about everything Millar does in this series.

This is staggeringly unoriginal even for Millar. Hit Girl, who was basically always Baby Elektra, now is running a cross between Hannibal Lecter and Rorschach, and yeah, it's not a coincidence that Dr. White looks just like you-know-who. (Next issue, it'll probably be someone from Orange is the New Black.)
