"One of my initial thoughts was having Beast's secondary mutation really amp up his body dysmorphia problems and actually change him into a woman. But there wasn't really room for that -- if we were going to pull something like that off, it would need to be a full story and not just a zany plot point." - Chris Burnham

Is pretty much this whole series. Especially the ending.

Yeah, this was one weird series from start to finish.

I actually really liked this series, but definitely agree about the ending. It was abrupt and a far less satisfying than the stuff that preceded it.

Another round of dysmorphia as zany, possibly framed as a joke for the other side of the fourth wall?

That would not have been the best, no.

Yeah, gender dysmorphia as a zany little joke... never a good idea.

It does an odd attempt to ape the Frank Quitely style. I don't even like Frank Quitely, so imagine what I think of a poorer quality version.

The writing does seem to be surprisingly, and pleasingly Morrison-esque in some of it's comments, mostly from Emma, but I have little idea of what is actually going on... which is LESS pleasing, but equally Morrison-esque.

I think it's like you start off with a Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely story and then you run it through a copier or fax machine a couple of times until the quality gets lighter and fades more. Then BOOM! You got E for Extinction in a nutshell.

Really? Which part do you find confusing? Because I'd have thought that one page of Emma mind-chatting with Sublime pretty clearly spells things out?
