The Vulture article linked above has more info and a quote from Jughead writer Chip Zdarsky.

Although I'm not ace myself, this reveal pleases me because it seems truest to Jug's usual portrayal over the decades.

Yes, I thought it was a given that Jughead's sexuality = burgers. But asexual is OK with me. Good that at least one comic company is acknowledging it a legitimate orientation.

Funny that this happens the same time as the Jughead of the new TV pilot was described as "a heartthrob with a philosophical bent".

Well, you can be a heartthrob and not be interested in those who are... ummm.... throbbing at you.

That's a good point, I suppose it just made me think that if that's how they were describing him that they might go in a very different direction than this.

Oh I'm sure he's probably going to be, at best, quirkly cute/handsome and won't get an actual girlfriend for the first couple of seasons (cf Stiles in Teen Wolf or xander in Buffy)

Stiles is more annoying asshole than quirky cute or handsome though.

Have to disagree there, both abut him being an annoying asshole... he's the loyal best friend who is constantly being shafted because he's about the only non-wereSOMETHING on the show and having to deal with more freaky stuff than seems entirely fair (I know he was possessed by something at some point, but it didn't stick) and still is loyal (even the current break up between him and Scott was caused as much by his own guilt at an accidental death than anything else)

...and also about him not being quirkily cute. Dylan O'Brien is adorable.

You mean the guy who physically and mentally abused his best friend. Who's controlling, possessive, can't stand it when Scott has friends other than him, and behaves horrendously towards him

Sorry, most despised character of all time as far as I'm concerned. Especially after the way he betrayed Scott in 5a, and assaulted him in 5b

I have to say I much prefer scerek. The two Tylers are just way cuter together.

Scott and Derek actually like one another :-)

I don't think anyone came out of 5a looking particularly good thanks to the machinations of whatsisname the blandly handsome evil guy.

Is Stiles jealous and petty at times, yes he is, but that's part of why I like him, he's flawed, but he's been Scott's friend for a long time, and was the first to be his sidekick.

Racist though? I must have missed more in those S4 episodes I never got around than I thought.

Also hard to find fault with any of the cast in terms of looks and cute compatibility.

I felt he showed plenty of his racism when he gave Scott that dogbowl in s1.
But I figured that might be more of an issue I tend to have with Stiles' fans than with Stiles himself, which is why I edited the comment.

Honestly, I think that Kira, Scott, Malia, Lydia and Mason came out of s5a looking pretty good. But that might be because they along with Liam and Derek are my faves :-)

My biggest issue with Stiles though, isn't that he's flawed, it's that he never learns from his mistakes. He's still the same exact character he was in the pilot in s1. He doesn't grow, he doesn't mature, and it's hard to overlook how he constantly mistreats Scott (see the physical violence Stiles tends put on him since s1, whenever Stiles is upset about something, or the creepy way he stalks Lydia (to the point that he tried to rape her in s1) and patronizes Malia.

He never takes responsibility for his actions, admittedly, the show doesn't help in this, since they pretty much never make him face any consequences for any of his mistakes. And the fact that he still hasn't apologized for his assault of Scott in the s5b premiere is unacceptable.
(made worse by the fact that the show had Melissa hold a grudge against Liam over attacking Scott, while Liam actually showed remorse, yet you don't see a similar anger at Stiles over attacking Scott in front of her.)

Maybe I'd be more willing to forgive Stiles if he actually showed remorse over his actions, but he never does. He never apologizes, never accepts that he did something wrong in the first place. And that's a flaw I find nigh impossible to get over.

I found the whole supposed Stiles and Malia relationship confusing. They never seemed like a real couple, and it looked one-sided to me. He's alternately patronizing her and seemingly scared of her. Did the writer think it romantic that at one point she was constantly breaking into Stiles' room at night, spooning him against his will, and marking him up?

Kudos to Archie Comics for saying it up front.

On the other hand, Kevin, what the HELL are you wearing?

It's like the hideous results of a one night stand between public transport upholstery and a Star Trek: TNG uniform... with a necktie...

Your dating options may be limited but, cute as you are, you cannot afford the sort of disservice that outfit does for your doubtless remarkable charms.

Good, asexuality almost never gets acknowledged as being a thing!

Jughead being ace is non-shocking, but that's not exactly a bad thing, openly acknowledging what we all thought makes him a solid pic for asexual icon.

Second thought: I'm glad his long-standing misogyny has been erased over the decades, and completely ignored here.

Nice to see us get some representation - and not have someone badgering the character and trying to "fix" them.
Nice art style, too.

Man, the whining I hear about this on tumblr! I was hearing about how Archie was ruined FOREVAR this and SJW that, and even complaints that Archie was now all about sexuality.

To which one of my followers responded, "It's about high school love triangles. It's ALWAYS been about sexuality."

Seriously, it pleases me hugely to see Archie, which was I always saw as this kinda whitebread never-changing fluff, take on changes with such economic success. More power to them!
