I love how the only person in the League who hasn't got a serious expression and a shadowed face is the Flash, who is just like "'sup, fellas?" No wonder I would never be able to tell whether it's Barry or Wally wearing the suit unless I know beforehand.

Especially since everyone else has their dramatic face shadows on.
Wait- is Wondy lifting her cape out of the way to provide an ass shot? That is a weird juxtaposition with her serious face.

(also who is your icon? It looks like an armoured up Rikki Barnes and even though I know it's not that's still awesome).

I'm honestly depressed that the gratuitous ass shot was so standard that I didn't even notice.

(And no, it isn't, though now I know Rikki Barnes even exists. Neat. She's an original character who will show up in my indie game project (and was supposed to star in a previous project that didn't quite get off the ground). She's basically a space cop by the name of Xerena Idyal.)

Development is still early days, but she'll definitely be in the prototype demo. I'll throw you a link when that goes public, if I remember :)

Honestly, while I noticed it immediately, I think you might not have because it's actually better than most butt shots. There's no attempt to get her bust in there, too, and it actually showed some character.

The scene doesn't say "look at my butt," so much as it says "I'm in charge. Either follow me or get out of my way. Also, look at my butt."
At least that's how it looks to me.

ALSO, why are people always invisible and inaudible in comics in scenes like this until we're ready to turn the camera on them for a big exciting reveal? I haven't read the full issue, so maybe I missed when the Lanterns were walking down the hall of the new JLHQ, but it reminds me of half a dozen other "introductory" scenes in comics, which never play out the way I would actually introduce people to my friends.

GREEN LANTERN: "With a wave of my hand, I make the Justice League appear! Abracadabra! You'll learn this trick too, kids, as long as you WORK TOGETHER!"
ENTIRE JUSTICE LEAGUE: [EERIE SILENCE]

Jessica and Simon were two of the New 52's better characters, so I'm pleased to see they've survived, and pairing them makes sense. Not sure how or whether the design of the League's costumes meshes with "Rebirth," though.

This art is so strange. And the melded batteries seems like a bad idea... what if they need to be in two places at once?. Why is Hal never shown to be a smart person. even by writers who like him, he always seems pretty dumb/short sighted.

Yep, and it made sense, the battery was screwy at the time and Baz's reasoning was if the ring runs out of power he should have a means to protect himself. It makes sense considering the GL's have been less superheroes and more of s military outfit Since the Sinestro War started.

I warmed to Ezra Bridger in Star Wars Rebels when he did the same thing and built a blaster into the hilt of his lightsabre, on the principle that he's going into dangerous situations and has little experience with wielding a lightsabre, so wanted a fall back-option he was more used to whilst on the learning curve.

Oh man, we are so on the same page there. Put the Muslim in a mask and have him carry a gun. Very progressive, DC. I still maintain the new GL should have been his sister, fighting to clear her brother's name. DC could have stolen a march on Marvel and had the first female Muslim super heroine.

New guy didn't work out so DC made Johns help out again, huh?

Just once I'd like to see a prominent property either succeed or die without the merit of being the favourite of the guy at the top of the company.

The new guy didn't work out I think in large part because once his first story was done, they immediately shifted him to 'writers-don't-care-about-new-people-limbo.' At least they're trying again now, and not unceremoniously killing off another new character.

While I do like Simon, and am interested to see a series that looks like it might actually give him some face-time (y'know, before he or the other one get pointlessly killed in some big event), the fact that it has to have him given the send-off by the super-duper-perfect Hal Jordan is irritating.
Par for the course, but irritating.

It's so generic! Ystin carries a sword, Tatsu carries a sword, lots of fantasy characters carry swords. They've got one character who carries a lasso, and they have her carrying an unsheathed sword ALL THE TIME. It's bizarre.
