"I was drawn to the idea of framing Santa Claus as the world’s most famous superhero; the one most kids would already have a powerful identification with —and the one owned by no corporation." -- Grant Morrison

I rolled my eyes when I first heard about this comic, but it really turned out kind of interesting imo. The "there are no bad children" line is very sweet.

It's only recently occurred to me that Morrison likes to establish characters as evil or mentally unwell by showing that they dislike children.

I was more thinking of Krampus. Also, I meant establish as in 'introduce', not as in 'mark out as their most prominent feature'.

In the legends, Krampus only exists to punish bad children, so if anyone was going to dislike children, it would be him.

I think that's a pretty solid real-world litmus test. Children are like people unedited for appearances

" Like father, like son. "
" Deserves what he gets "

A narrative that's both optimistic and honest about human nature. Seriously, good.

Chopping off a monster's head while bellowing his famous laugh.

Santa has never been so metal.
