Well that was... predictable. How did Carol think that was going to go "Hi, I'd like to arrest you for the future murder of someone you don't know, have never met, and in circumstances we haven't a clue about..."

These guys really need to talk to the Legion of Super-Heroes. They have to deal with Dream Girl's mysterious visions all the time, and the solution is usually something like "Okay, she saw you killing a dude on Mars three days from now? We'll have Chameleon Boy morph into you, and we'll make a robot duplicate of him, and then Cham will stab the crap out of it. Done!"

Yeah, well, in the Silver Age the only heroes that fought were Superman and Batman, and half the time it was probably staged to fool some super villain. These days writers and editors look for every excuse to make good guys punch each other. :/

I really don't get why they leap to 'arrest'.

"Hey, free expenses-paid trip to anywhere in this 90% of the globe, or space! No cells, guide/bodyguard of your choice, just to make sure something bad *doesn't* happen. Once the timeframe is passed, then that's it, we're done."

So, uh... all those times Steve Rodgers has done exactly that mean nothing?

And since when did Alison know She-Hulk that well?
Was there some long running team-up between them I missed?

And while we're here...

I dunno, I could see Ali having a special attachment to Jen...in Dazzler's solo series, Jen gave her some really good advice, and though Ali never really went anywhere with her law career I could see her having a heap of respect for a lawyer's role as well as for Jen in particular for managing to run her superhero/lawyering/personal life so admirably when that's something Ali has always struggled with...plus she is generally just more cranky anyway since Mystique was harvesting MGH from her, yeah? That's the impression I got from scans since that happened..

Honestly, I'm kind of with Captain Marvel here. If you believe a crime is going to be committed, surely you'd have a duty to stop it?
And it wasn't as if she was being unduly harsh about it all, she just wanted to protect Nico and keep her from making a terrible mistake.

Yeah, I think Ali unnecessarily escalated that situation. It could have been handled much more easily with "So we'd like you to stay at the Triskalon for, like, a week until we're sure the window on that has passed. Room service, big stack of DVD's, all that kind of stuff."

The problem with people saying "Oh it's Allison's fault for escalating this and it could've been handled differently is this. Carol apparently always intended to bring her in, there was never going to be a question about it. No matter how much they had each others backs in the past she was going to drag her in. While they were in the same room as the comatose Jen no less. And there's no time limit on how long they'd keep her. They could say "Oh...umm...just a few days." Which then turns into longer and longer as the vision doesn't happen, weeks, months. Once they have her they can't afford to let her go, encase said event occurs the second they let her go.
Allison just pointed out that Carol was being sneaky and dishonest about it, she forced her hand so Nico would have a chance rather then having her staff taken from her and too late.

Yeah. I mean, look how Carol reacted to the woman with the empty briefcase? If that's her standard for how to treat these 'precrime' arrestees, than she has no standards whatsoever for their rights.

Right. "We're just going to hold you until someone named Alice doesn't die." Because that sounds reasonable. How exactly are they going to know when that window has closed?

I really wonder what the U.S. Constitution, Marvel Universe version, looks like.

I've been thinking about motivations, and I think I've finally got Carols.

She got her powers from the original Captain Marvel (Mar-Vell). Since the beginning, she's tried to live up to his standard.

The problem is, she can't anymore. Mar-Vell had "The Power Cosmic" and knew the right thing when he needed to. Carol AT BEST had a minor version of it - and according to the official Marvel Wiki, she doesn't have it any more.

This is kind of like some people (no, not all) and substance abuse - she's chasing that old high (knowing that she's doing the RIGHT action), but she can't find it.

I suspect she's headed for a serious downfall about the whole thing.

Related: Was there actually a Cosmic Cube in Project P.E.G.A.S.U.S. when (or before) Thanos attacked? I don't remember one being mentioned. And if not... did anyone ask him why he thought there would be?

Project Pegasus was creating a new Cosmic Cube out of Iso-8 cubes
Their experiments alerted a Shi'ar vessel that monitors the Earth for signs of the Phoenix Force returning yet again.

Thanos attacked that vessel and found out about the cube from a Shi'ar diplomat.

All of this was explained in Ultimates. As was Thanos' return from outside the multiverse, he followed them back when they left to try to fix time.
