-"I'd recognise those ears anywhere!"-
Little known ability of Peter Parker: He can identify people by the briefest glances of random body-parts.

And how is he immune? This is two decades before OMD, so Mephisto's iron-clad Non-Competition Clause is probably out...

(So, is the racist gentleman going "kill 'em all" supposed to be Tommy Lee Jones? 'cuz it looks an awful lot like him. Same expression.)

Also, love how all Kulan Gath's spell really does to Wanda is... give her a belt! The fiend!
(Pseudo-historical reality warps via eighties fashion! The horror!)

People like to say the Claremonts X–Men peaked with Byrne. Those people are dead wrong.

There was some great stuff they did together but the Smith, Romita Jr, and Silvestri runs are better and definitely more interesting.

Huh, and here I thought seeds had been planted for the more mystical aspects of Spider-Man's origin.

Sam's jug ears are pretty distinctive but at the same time it's hilarious Spidey doesn't realise the werewolf girl, the super-strong jet black kid and the invulnerable flying hayseed are New Mutants UNTIL he sees the ears ^_^

Spider-Man had actually met Cannonball in Marvel Team-up, AFAIK he hadn't met the other New Mutants at this point.

I was just starting to get burned out on X-men circular stories when this came out. I remember a reviewer complaining about Storm being back this issue when they had a super tearful goodbye scene for her just last issue.

This storyline is one of the penultimate for Peter Parker Abuse. I really hate that he died in it.

There's a What If about this story where they include Ghost Rider. Its darkly amusing when Kulan Gath turned Johnny Blaze to his 'dark side' he got a demon much more powerful than himself. Zarathos ended up taking over this realm for awhile.

Awww man, you left out the next page after that bigot talked about "stamping out the muties" where a more admirable sensible government official spoke out against the bigot and spoke from experience when his unit liberated a Nazi death camp. it was a crowning moment of awesome in my opinion. Claremont will show bigots and morons who hate muties but also good and decent people who willing to stand up for them in his run.
