You know what, I am just glad that somebody within the story acknowledged that the public reaction to Cyclops no way matched what he actually did.

Also, and I realize this is just a pet peeve of mine, I just can't stand little kids who are smarter than everyone in the room. Just as someone who works in science, it just simplifies it to such an insanely dumb degree.

I think it's okay when it's done right. I mean, Damien Wayne started out as a total little heel, but he really softened up under Dick's wing. Same with Artemis Fowl in his books, or Flavia de Luce in hers (if anyone hasn't read the Flavia de Luce books, they are missing out so very very much).

As long the writers don't forget they're still kids, who're confused and impulsive and excitable and still figuring things out, and not pint-sized adults with a smart-aleck streak.

Exactly. It just has to be done well. Damian Wayne became less of a shit. Valeria Richards slowly growing past her tendency for villainy is an important part of her character.

Ender Wiggin may or may not qualify.

It's a child development phase. Preteens are at the most logical stage of human development. They can reason (better with training) but they have a severely limited ability to see the wider context as that part of their brain won't finish forming for another 10-15 years. So the smart-ass 9-12yo who's convinced they know everything and doesn't want to put up with your shit is psychologically accurate. And when they really are the smartest person in the room things can get very uncomfortable. I've been on both sides of that moment, as the child and the adult.

"I have no control over how the world views Cyclops"...

Yes, you do and you did. You were one of the only people present when he apparently died. SOMEONE released and span info from that event, turning Scott Summers, defender of the mutants against your sodding death cloud, into someone who is reviled by humans, Inhumand and mutants alike, and I personally doubt that it was Emma.

YOUR reactions to it would shape the rest of the world's perceptions of those events Medusa, so don't get all high-handed now.

"Yes, you do and you did."

I'm confused. I thought Havok was evil or something now...and what happened to his face? And why is he going to the same hairstylist as Sebastian Shaw?

Regarding his face, he was scarred by Kang in Uncanny Avengers.

First off, Colossus, honey, shave that beard quickish. It doesn't suit you.

Second... we're in 2017, and writers are still writing Peter as The Russian Guy Who Doesn't Get Crazy Western Civilisation?
(and also doesn't use contractions so we know he's a shifty godless foreigner.)
Why?
I get comic book time is a thing, but Piotr's been in America long enough to friggen known what metal is. And to learn to use freaking contractions.
He's not dense.

(I refuse to believe the f*cking Inhumans are more acclimatised to American civilisation that Piotr.)

Soule already established that Gorgon was a fan of metal in his Inhumans run. That doesn't necessarily mean that there aren't other parts of American culture that Colossus is more familiar with, or that all the royals are familiar with that type of music.

I could honestly take it the Peter just plays up the Russian angle, like he still calls his friends "comrade".

And yeah, I thought him getting his head shaved looked awkward, but damn that doesn't look good on him.

What's fucked up about the "Cyclops=Hitler" concept is that the Inhumans are a race that practiced eugenics who are in effect gassing a persecuted minority to death.

And a member of said persecuted minority trying to stop the pro-eugenics group from gassing people to death is called Hitler. I would hope the writers aren't ignorant to what imagery they're presenting here.

But according to Soule this isn't genocide, because genocide is a crime, it's a choice and an act. The cloud doesn't have sentience so it's not purposely killing mutants, it's an unfortunate side effect and I'm going to throw up

Between this and his "peanut butter" analogy I am constantly surprised at how tone-deaf this guy is.

The full quote for everyone else:

Also, clouds aren’t genocidal — genocide is a crime, and crimes require intent, or reasonable anticipation of harm. The cloud itself had neither — it’s a cloud. The Inhumans aren’t “genocidal” either. Not Medusa or any of the others — remember, they had no idea the cloud would be released at all. The only ones who knew were Black Bolt and his brother Maximus, since they did it at the end of “Infinity” — but even they had no idea it would hurt anyone. But as we’ve seen with “IvX,” and as it often happens in real life, it’s easier to blame a group than a person, and things can spiral out of control quickly.

See here's the thing, Charles. Said group is willingly resisting any attempt to eradicate the cloud. Innocent people are dying as a result and soon the planet will be uninhabitable for them. There's no moral ambiguity here. Taking the Inhuman's side is like saying you should leave all the lead in the water in Flint if lead is sacred to someone's culture.

It's a pointless clarification as well. As far as I know, nobody was saying the cloud itself was commiting genocide. They were accusing the Inhuman royals for protecting it. Y'know, the people who *do* have "reasonable anticipation of harm".

Plus just because Black Bolt didn't intend for the cloud to become a virulent plague that forces sterilization and death upon mutants doesn't exactly lessen its impact. It doesn't make him less culpable. The fact that people are choking to death on Terrigen pretty much negates any intentions Black Bolt may have had.

And the rest of the Inhuman Royal family are culpable as well (plus the others who helped them like Inferno). Because they showed they were willing to publicly kill the last mutant who destroyed a Terrigen cloud as a show of force against anyone who might attempt it in the future.

Isnt that Evil Reverse Havok ?

What exactly is keeping him from turning them into shreds of plasma ?

No one in that lot is even vaguely near being able to survive a wide-angle blast. Even a very low-power one.
