$10,000 per gram = $283,495 per ounce.

According to Doomwar #1 (which came out two years before this issue), Wakanda’s Sacred Mound contained approximately 10,000 tons of Vibranium. Which would mean Wakanda’s Vibranium reserves had been worth… roughly $90,700,000,000,000.

By comparison, at that same time this issue was published (August 2012), gold was selling for about $60 per gram (or about $1,700 per ounce).

If Wakanda is possibly the richest country in the world (we don't know how rich other fictional countries are, or how rich Marvel America is), then why don't they do more to help their neighbors?

Truly, a country with the cure for cancer and other medical wonders sitting near the most unfortunate nations in the world cannot claim ANY moral highground if they don't aid their fellow humans.

I know that the comicbook writers mean well, but they make Wakandans look like monsters, which has an unfortunate implication. Are they trying to create a nation that justifies the exploitation of Africa via a nation state of black African supermen that makes the IMF and World Bank look saintly in comparison? Every storyline I've read about Wakanda in the last ten years is just tacky.

400 ounces per day is something like 4 tons per year. So at that rate it would take about 2500 years to liquidate of the stockpile. Panther needs to step it up.

I can't help but think Camuncoli deliberately drew - or was instructed to draw - Reed in the same pose as the "Ancient Aliens" guy meme for that "Vibranium" panel.

He did a great job in making Reed's stretching look grotesque. I love body horror!Reed.

Does Wakandan Charlie Brown in the first page become significant later?

LOL! I noticed that kid with the Charlie Brown shirt, too. Bet he knows a Lucy who keeps yanking away the soccer ball he keeps trying to kick. :)
