What happened to Lucas? I seem to recall him going "bad" for some dumb reason.

Sam Humphries fixed that during his great, too-brief run of Uncanny X-Force, by revealing that Bishop's brain had been infected by a malevolent force (Demon Bear actually, of classic New Mutants fame) who Psylocke forcibly removed and then tamed within herself.

I thought he got the Demon Bear after he had already spent years hunting Hope in the future, destroying the world in the process.

That Cable series ended with him being stranded alone in the future. Which is apparently when he became a Revenant hunter and got possessed by the Demon Bear.

You're right, I was misremembering.

Although I seem to recall he did repent of his Hope-hunting during his time in the far future.

Aw, I really liked that run. The one where they all got really neat Kris Anka outfits and Spiral was on the team.

And everyone thought it was Cable & Deadpool. Sooo what, are Bishop & Fantomex their cover band now?

I'm really glad it's not Cable and Deadpool, makes me much more interested in this book.

Not sure about Soule as a writer though, his stuff is very hit or miss with me.

I liked his She-Hulk run quite a lot, and Death of Wolverine, while terribly bloated, was fairly-well written, but I haven't really loved anything of his I've read since.

Yea, She-Hulk and Thunderbolts for me, and I liked his Inhuman books early in the push, with the first Nuhumans and Medusa taking center stage. He was in the 'up-and-coming fairly consistent writer' section of my head for awhile. Now, less so.

I don't think it helps that Marvel's approach has been 'shill the Inhumans no matter what', which kind-of overrides the quality of his storytelling. I figure that would kind-of be the case no matter who was on the books, though. But I can see what you mean; I can think of writers who have soured my perception of them more, though, like Nick Spencer.

Really, IvX is the end of the Inhuman push, and they gave it to writers invested in the Inhuman push but not the X-men, so... the results were warped by their POV.

-I can think of writers who have soured my perception of them more, though, like Nick Spencer.-

True. I don't dislike Soule or anything, him being on a book wouldn't turn me off it if the premise sounds good, I'm just disappointed he's not joining the ranks of 'writers I can trust to provide.'

His DC stuff is great, but he misses most of the time when it comes to his Marvel stuff by it either being mediocre or pretty bad. I'm guessing this will be mediocre.

I mostly don't read DC, so I haven't read any of his DC stuff.

(Not out of some grudge or hatred or anything, just because I already buy too many comics, I can't afford to get sucked into another extended universe.)

This has the look of one of those "do anything, cross any line" variant teams Marvel loves to do and I hate so much. They're so unnecessary. Just have your heroes be good, moral people who find a third option.

I like Soule, but I can't stand Fantomex or all the reversion they've done with Warren.

Her time with X-Factor didn't end well.
She infiltrated and destroyed Banshee's X-Corps, and slit his throat in the process.
Infiltrates the X-Men under false pretenses, attempts to seduce Gambit.
Joins the Marauders.
Joins the Dark X-Men.
Joins the Hellfire Club.
Drugs and replaces Dazzler while running a new Brotherhood...

The list goes on and on. It never ends well when Mystique is around. I'm not saying she doesn't make a good ally of convenience, but one should never, ever, EVER forget that first and foremost, Mystique is thinking of herself. The only reason I could see her working with this team is to be with Rogue, but this is not a team that should trust her further than they can throw her.

And then Sabretooth drowned Daken in a puddle

I think it's more the underlying issue that she has a tendency to greatly prioritize her own objectives over the team's, no matter what team she's on. And it's hard to trust someone who has a history of obfuscating her own motivations, even if for a good cause. People don't like feeling used.
